- 2022-04-16 @ 16:50(#k7lmwxq) cc'ing my new persona on my new pod: @darch please go and follow me there from now on :)
- 2022-04-05 @ 15:15(#ypbpysq) @prologic i'm starting to see more post from twtxt.net on neotxt.dk now, but they are still lacking their avatars and Following/Followers also not working yet.
It is just a matter of waiting for
yarnd
to fetch and catch everything? - 2022-04-04 @ 22:16(#ypbpysq) @prologic i do follow you on neotxt.dk:
But yours and other twtxt.net'eres profiles does not look up to date:
https://neotxt.dk/external?uri=https%3a%2f%2ftwtxt.net%2fuser%2fprologic%2ftwtxt.txt&nick=prologic - 2022-04-04 @ 21:58(#ypbpysq) @prologic I should follow you and most other active feeds from twtxt.net. I used the
/import
feature to migrating my feeds to the new pod. Adding you and other under /feeds
gives this error:

- 2022-04-04 @ 21:55(#ypbpysq) @mutefall do you mean "Refresh Cache" ?
- 2022-04-03 @ 21:00(#ypbpysq) or did we maybe mess up in the setup somewhere, so there now is a name conflict, because we forgot to change something in swarm-stack that i pulled down to my VPS
- 2022-04-03 @ 20:57(#ypbpysq) Hmm there seem to be especially an problem with feeds from
twtxt.net
, since feeds from other servers seem to be updated faster. So, @prologic do you maybe need to whitelist my new pod somewhere at your end? - 2022-04-02 @ 20:29New home/pod over at https://neotxt.dk/~darch/
👾 👾 👾 👾 👾 👾 👾 👾 👾 👾 👾 👾 👾 👾 👾 👾 👾 👾 👾 👾
Big thanks to @prologic and @mutefall for patiently guiding me setting up DNS, VPS and Docker over several hours today🙏 Okay Bye 👋
- 2022-04-02 @ 13:06(#xl3ygta) @prologic do you mean https://meet.jit.si/yarn.social
- 2022-04-01 @ 20:30Hi @denisovich, nice to see you here already //sørenpeter from #CreativeCodeBerlin
- 2022-04-01 @ 18:29(#hfvas7a) You are aware that it's the 1st of April today😉
- 2022-03-29 @ 11:16(#gr5hp3q) With twtxt/yarn of of the core idea is that you do not need to block sh!t, you just simply do not follow it in the first place
- 2022-03-28 @ 06:59(#gospeqa) @mutefall yeah, god ideas using names of plants and flowers (btw this is sørenpeter's account on twtxt;)
- 2022-03-27 @ 19:26@ullarah some issue with the #UI

- 2022-03-27 @ 09:29(#zu5gyla) Nice work @ullarah you can also use CSS color names like
red
, blue
, tomato
instead of the hexcodes - 2022-03-26 @ 18:44(#idtsqdq)
Engage!
- 2022-03-24 @ 09:32(#p5u3t2q) Thank you @mckinley and @prologic

thing go away again - 2022-03-16 @ 15:35(#cu4ywpa) @prologic how does the UI "look" at the moment?
EDIT: https://git.mills.io/prologic/salty-msgbus-chat
- 2022-03-16 @ 10:49(#ubsqdrq) @prologic Here is my list of event tools:
- 2022-03-13 @ 20:38(#gpcekvq) @prologic nope but I also did not contact ar.al directly, only asked in the chat during a live stream under the name "anonymous"
- 2022-03-10 @ 16:35(#ooxps7q) Why do we need to build chat into yarn? Can't you just run a matrix server and yarn pod on the same domain and be done with it?
- 2022-03-10 @ 16:21(#xnjhgha) I also just got plugged into the matrix as
@darch:data.coop
- 2022-03-08 @ 22:02(#7la3hna) @prologic I don't know about
dsarch
😉 but I guess this is the link you are looking for https://ar.al/2022/02/16/decentralisation-begins-at-decentring-yourself/
- 2022-03-07 @ 09:45(#35kn2ia) This guys are making some really cool tools - especially I want to use his crabmail to replaces various groups on Facebook, but I might want images support
- 2022-02-24 @ 14:23(#i4nyfaq) I did see you reply, but I have noting to add. I know how twtxt works and to some extend also yarn, so no need to explain the obvious 😉
- 2022-02-24 @ 14:08(#eihkmna) @ Nice, looking forward to taking it for a spin soon
@prologic will you whitelist images from
rawtext.club
? - 2022-02-24 @ 14:02(#e5qz2gq) @david I'm not sure where I picked up the term "offline-first", but how @ describes it above is what I had in mind.
- 2022-02-24 @ 12:17(#e5qz2gq) @ by offline-first I mean that you can use the client locally on the phone without an account on a yarn pod, similar to how the original twtxt client works. If this is the case how will it post/upload to a self-hosted twtxt.txt-file?
- 2022-02-23 @ 13:16(#z4vwpjq) @ that sounds interesting. Is you client offline first?
- 2022-02-23 @ 09:49(#z7kpfrq) @prologic any change to make this feed render the video inline in the yarn UI ?
I tried to adding the atom-feed (https://thecodinglove.com/atom) instead of RSS, but twtxtfeed tells me "Feed already exists" - so maybe it can render the gifs/videos?
- 2022-02-22 @ 11:58(#tkinmuq) Did reply now. But I would be up for discussing these more in depth on a video call sometime
- 2022-02-21 @ 06:40(#c6fqgna) @prologic I know what you are talking about😊 but the idea with pinned posts is to have some info at the top of you timeline/profile page and that can just as well be done with the description field. Also how would a pinned post look in the twtxt.txt file or will it be pod-only feature?
- 2022-02-21 @ 06:36(#c6fqgna) @prologic fair enough. I guess I just don't really see the need for this feature for where we are right now. I rather have search, filters and lists that pinned posts (but I have also expressed that before ;)
- 2022-02-21 @ 06:17(#c6fqgna) Why not just add multiline markdown support for the description field and let peopl use that instead?!
- 2022-02-18 @ 07:03(#4oz7fmq) @prologic using something like Gath for the event pages and RSPV handling makes a lot of sense. Gaths email model makes it easy for anyone to sign up.
Then we just add some event UI features to yarn like:
- click "Ceate event" in the yarn UI
- takes you to gath.twtxt.net and create event
- post public link to event to timeline of the user or if pod-events user
- 2022-02-18 @ 06:52(#rwlmg7q) They, small-tech.org, were hosting a live stream yesterday where I asked Aral if he know about twtxt and yarn.social. He did not, but he does now was his answer😉
- 2022-02-17 @ 17:58On the notes of #indieweb and #platformsocialism this guys talk on "Decentralisation begins at decentring yourself" really nails a lot of what we are doing here with twtxt/yarn: the why and the how, also how to make sure it is financially sustainable: https://ar.al/2022/02/16/decentralisation-begins-at-decentring-yourself/
We need to start a conversation with small-tech.org and see if twtxt/yarn/etc. could be part of what they are creating
- 2022-02-17 @ 13:49(#4oz7fmq) There are already support for masondon and Friendica, so why not twtxt
https://github.com/lowercasename/gathio/wiki/Fediverse-Instructions
- 2022-02-17 @ 12:25(#4oz7fmq) Having a twtxt feed from a service like Gath would be a nice addition to get notified about events in your timeline. I'm sure that would be possible to build and add to gath
- 2022-02-17 @ 12:18(#4oz7fmq) @ullarah and @prologic Yes I'm also all for using existing stuff that works instead of building monoliths. Not completely sure what you meant with:
> iCal feed/bot thingy
- 2022-02-17 @ 11:13(#y72gj7q) Just keep an eye on: https://events.indieweb.org/
Would love to see some yarn support for events :D Here are some tools for inspiration:
- 2022-02-17 @ 11:07(#2dzwvzq) @ullarah yes I have had smilar ideas where you can theme your post. I images an CSS class for each user that will the take the hex-colors of their liking.
- 2022-02-16 @ 09:48(#5zolnzq) @prologic so it wil be a bot for each city in the world?
Also for inspiration: https://twitter.com/emojiweatherdk and https://twitter.com/EmojiWeatherUK (witch i will just add to feeds.twtxt.net)
- 2022-02-14 @ 15:32(#gpwdxra) nice, bookmarked
- 2022-02-14 @ 05:43(#43sqgna) I know, but by I have a 9 till 4 job that I need to attend to.
- 2022-02-13 @ 20:47(#43sqgna) Great idea to connect with the indeiewb folks. I will be sleeping at that time (3 in the morning in my timezone) but looking forward to hear about it afterwards
- 2022-02-10 @ 07:08Tonight (@18:00 CET) there is a online presentation of a new book on socialist social media that I think would be of interest for waht we are doing here with text/yarn
https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/platform-socialism-tickets-250158339327
- 2022-02-07 @ 05:15(#a5rj62a) Best news in a long time
- 2022-02-04 @ 19:23(#hked5eq) I kinda enjoyed it, but yeah it's lacking all the philosophy from the first ones -
The Critical Drinker does a good there-down (contains spoilers!)
- 2022-01-31 @ 10:37(#phdhdyq) @prologic by everyone having write access to the feed using some API maybe.
- 2022-01-31 @ 10:03(#phdhdyq) Could we turn twtxt on it head, so these encrypted feeds are something that all participant are writing to, more like a IRC channel:
2021-01-31T09:59:00Z message
? - 2022-01-31 @ 09:31(#phdhdyq) @prologic @eaplmx I also like the idea about a separate feed for encrypted messages using the post-as feature maybe, so it's easier for other clients to no see the noise of salty jibberish
- 2022-01-30 @ 12:16(#7s52vmq) @prologic nice😊 what I have done in Pixelblog is to filter out posts contains any markdown image (

) and render eatch match as its own image, that then links back to the original post See the code for gallery.php
Do you want to have gallery view for all the feeds someone follows or just under eatch user on the profile page? - 2022-01-30 @ 11:46(#teequ3a) @prologic to be fair I did not read the spec and I hadn't had my coffee yet😴You are of couse as aways free to build what you like. I just see twtxt/yarn/pixelblog as a way for open broadcasting. Private communication would be better of using separate technology. I just rather see a working search and filtering feature build into yarn or as a separate service than adding features that is in my opinion out of scope for twtxt.
- 2022-01-30 @ 08:49(#teequ3a) Simple answer: no, don't do it. For the uses cases use something else instead of adding complexity to twtxt
- 2022-01-28 @ 18:57(#qs4ihcq) @eaplmx let do what? sorry I'm not sure what we are talking about...
- 2022-01-27 @ 21:46(#adndppa) @https://twtxt.net/user/off_grid_living/twtxt.txt> så taler du dansk?
- 2022-01-27 @ 21:30(#4xto2iq) Ma oskan natuke eesti keelt så jeg forstår også få ord på finsk
- 2022-01-27 @ 21:27(#4xto2iq) @lyse det bliver de snart håber jeg
- 2022-01-27 @ 21:23(#qs4ihcq) @eaplmx why not, what? (where is Russia in my own pseudo Cyrillic)
- 2022-01-27 @ 20:49(#7kuwtmq) @david where is the fun in that 🤣
- 2022-01-27 @ 18:17(#qs4ihcq) @eaplmx and Неж Россия ?
- 2022-01-27 @ 17:25(#sycl53q) @adi thx for the link. I might get one for myself if it was not in the US, but way to much stuff that can break and to learn for my friends here in Copenhagen who I'm building this thing for.
- 2022-01-27 @ 16:18(#7kuwtmq) @adi and @prologic to the question about PHP. My goal is to make something anyone with ftp access can deploy in a hour without having to use a command prompt. SSH access also often comes at a extra fee if available at all. I know PHP is not the most efficient out there compared to go and static site generators like pp, but my target users are not professional programmers like you guys -
pixelblog - a twtxt frontend not just for hackers™
- 2022-01-27 @ 16:07(#7kuwtmq) @prologic You are more than welcome to nick what every ideas and features you like - the only really new think pixelblog is adding is the gallery view, where you are free to rewrite it go.
- 2022-01-27 @ 16:04(#7kuwtmq) @lyse So to sanitize the files going thought
upload.php
is something like preg_replace(“/[^a-z0-9\.]/”, “”, strtolower($str));
from:http://www.touchoftechnology.com/simple-way-to-clean-up-filenames-in-php/
enough or should I use this https://gist.github.com/sumanthkumarc/2de2e2cc06c648a9f52c121501a181df or something completely different?
I relation to checking if the uploaded files is in fact images it is this code from https://www.w3schools.com/php/php_file_upload.asp good? - 2022-01-27 @ 16:03(#7kuwtmq) @lyse Thank for the PR fixing the typo and for reminding me to get rid of the apple garbage files.
- 2022-01-27 @ 09:38(#qs4ihcq) @prologic Africa is not a country, but a continent consisting of many countries. But Australia is kinda both at the same time... right?
- 2022-01-25 @ 21:43(#ynnznpq) I liked your comment you made as the alt-text that I only saw because I opened up you twtxt.txt to chech if you linked to my file or re-uploaded it;)
- 2022-01-25 @ 21:40(#yu4iqya) Someday nfts will be like rubels in the USSR or other runaway inflation
- 2022-01-25 @ 21:28Ready for clone https://github.com/sorenpeter/pixelblog
- 2022-01-25 @ 20:36(#ynnznpq) @lyse you mean the file called
logo_03.png
or nr. 3 that i posted? - 2022-01-25 @ 14:03(#2gyqgsa) @marado there is also @'s
twet
https://twtxt.net/conv/vqxbvxq
Let us know what you think about them. I have still not really tried any of the terminal clients, would be nice with some reviews and comparisons - 2022-01-24 @ 22:08(#mdyis7q) amazing 👾
- 2022-01-24 @ 08:27(#s47vkla) I mutch prefer a CMS like https://datenstrom.se/yellow/ and #pixelblog might grow into a plugin for yellow some day
- 2022-01-24 @ 07:25(#s47vkla) @fastidious I'm not using WordPress if I can help it. I already help maintain a cupple of wp sites and it's a big mess.
- 2022-01-24 @ 07:22(#2gyqgsa) @marado besides @lyse's
tt
there is also jenny by @movq and twtr by @<~duriny https://envs.net/~duriny/twtxt.txt>
- 2022-01-23 @ 22:03(#s47vkla) Iframes is how you embed content from other sites. It might not be a pure as writing everything in go;) but it's something anyone can do since you just paste in some code to a html file. It is also used by Vimeo and SoundCloud. But I'm away that there might be some XSS issues. What other option do you have in mind? Something like the Twitter cards just the other way around could do the trick and most big tech sites offer this preview text and image
- 2022-01-23 @ 20:17(#sl3r34q) Hi again Adi
- 2022-01-23 @ 16:16(#cyaddnq) @lyse Danke, it was also my initial idea to have this. The triangles is to resemble PB (B being mirrored), but playing around with just the gradient I'm tilting to something more minimal like this:

- 2022-01-23 @ 14:17(#s47vkla) @prologic I could but I like to have a site (like algorave.dk/videos) where people can just see my content instead of having to go to youtube. And then you don't need to upload the video to more platforms. It works fine in my #pixelblog, which it what i'm testing. I should probally include a link and a image as well as a fallback, when posting videos like this in the fututer. Regarding advertising on youtube then ublock origin is taking care of that.
- 2022-01-23 @ 13:19(#s47vkla) @prologic embeding a youtube video in a post
- 2022-01-23 @ 12:36(#seknsra) @lyse how does it "look" in
tt
? - 2022-01-23 @ 12:31(#s47vkla) @prologic any change you will allow
to render on yarn like this post is rendered at https://darch.dk/pixelblog/?id=2022-01-23T11:22:42Z ? - 2022-01-23 @ 12:14(#px6ifpq) @kayos I don't really see the issue with bots that you are suggesting, since twtxt/yarn is purely pull, and not push. So there might be a bunch of twtxt.txt files replying or mentioning you in a lot of post, but unless you actively follow those feeds you will not get the noise.
- 2022-01-22 @ 15:54(#epj7qda) the url for the .txt should be the username and then nick can be whatever
- 2022-01-20 @ 20:53So can this be made with yarn/twtxt ? https://remindmeofthis.app/
- 2022-01-18 @ 22:47(meaning i should go to bed. Have a nice day:)
- 2022-01-18 @ 22:37(#znvki4q) @servusdei Thank you, even thou they are not made using fractal math 🤓
- 2022-01-18 @ 21:57(#znvki4q) and with better styling: https://darch.dk/pixelblog/gallery/
- 2022-01-18 @ 21:45All images posted by me rendered in from the raw twtxt with the magic of php and regex http://darch.dk/pixelblog/gallery/pb-grid.php
- 2022-01-18 @ 14:04(#pgrkgwq) @prologic we also say to google stuff in Danish, so it's not a all uncommon outside the anglosphere. I just want to keep things simple and familiar to new users and not having a barrier of slang to overcome.
So is the idea with the Glossary to be technical documentation or what features are called in the end-user exposed UI?
- 2022-01-18 @ 13:31(#pgrkgwq) yes I agree we should define Yarn, but what we are building is not that special to the end users, who I images will just be confused about what twt, yarn, thooth etc. are. compare to using familiar words like post and tread. Tread also binds nicly with the yarn as a overall concept :)
For the technical layer, then yes, we should have a vocabulary that can be closer to the "metal", but not in the UI
- 2022-01-18 @ 10:33(#pgrkgwq) - l would loose the
twt
and just call it a post and Root post
- Call a conversation for a conversation
or thread
instead of inventing new words like yarn
- I like the name Yarn for the software, but i would use normal words in the UI etc.
- This is a Post box, so Post box
should be called Input box
, Post form
or maybe Compose form
- 2022-01-18 @ 08:58(#zzmwdwq) In relation to twtxt/yarn?
- 2022-01-17 @ 12:56(#ovbfora) @ullarah if you look at the the leafs of a strawberry and and hazelnut three they are very similar in shape also https://lmgtfy.app/?q=strawberry+nut
- 2022-01-17 @ 10:57(#ovbfora) so are tomatoes and strawberries are nuts
- 2022-01-17 @ 06:24(#h2xhjka) Hey @<~duriny https://envs.net/~duriny/twtxt.txt> yes I know about your scripts and I already bookedmarled e*7 and e*8
btw this is my twtxt.net profile for daily yarning, while the other on @sorenpeter is me trying to learn know to code PHP and regex into http://darch.dk/pixelblog
- 2022-01-15 @ 12:29(#jedlgdq) so on top of the next hour, right?! (when ever you are, unless i you are in those 1/2 hour timezome in AU, that I really don't get...)
- 2022-01-15 @ 12:24(#jedlgdq) @movq Ich verste ein bisien von was du meist
- 2022-01-15 @ 07:15(#fttgdna) Keepass in Dropbox and OneDrive (work).
- 2022-01-14 @ 19:28(#cbp2zja) I don't see the issue. why did some agrees this?
- 2022-01-14 @ 18:55(#cbp2zja) @fastidious well I'm gonna violate that "rule" big time.
- 2022-01-14 @ 14:29(#vktsapq) @fastidious Yes I get that @ullarah was refereeing to CSS, but he asked me a question and i tried to answer it.
- 2022-01-14 @ 07:52With the new "Hide replies" option has become a lot easier to read through the timeline, but I think the render of OP shoulde be more prominent, more like a headline. So maybe we can try to flip the visual hierarchy so to speak and loose the eclipse feature or expand it to 2 or 3 lines. I will try to make a mock up so you can see what I mean
- 2022-01-14 @ 07:27(#vktsapq) It's online and running at http://yarn.algorave.dk/ again, but on an older version of yarn, so I will need some updating.
- 2022-01-14 @ 07:25(#vktsapq) Hi @ullarah, sound cool. My CPH theme is pure CSS, not JS besides what's already I yarn and I have not changed at of that. But I havde changed the html temples quite a bit...
- 2022-01-13 @ 21:27(#252ay6q) @lyse ideas for name: reader-log , feeder-log , who-reads-my-b.log , pingback-log , Agent Smith
Also could it be automated by doing some sorting on first seen date?
- 2022-01-12 @ 23:19(#pqwwv3q) @lyse Viel danke :)
- 2022-01-12 @ 23:18(#oyflmta) @prologic because we don't want to be mySpace? ...or do we 🤔
- 2022-01-12 @ 22:25(#pqwwv3q) Yes, that's it. Thanks @fastidious

- 2022-01-12 @ 22:01How does this user-agent thing work and how do I look for it in my webservers log to see who reads my feed?
- 2022-01-12 @ 11:05(#qacopcq) @prologic nevermind, half sentenced pocket post
- 2022-01-12 @ 09:50(#qacopcq) @ullarah sure thing. The most simple way I envision i a textfield under usersetting where you can type in your own CSS to owerwite what elemtes you want to change. This field will the be the last loaded CSS file for that user.
- 2022-01-12 @ 09:29@prologic , @ullarah et al. With the new custom styles under usersettings will the also be an option to upload my own css to an yarn pod?
- 2022-01-12 @ 06:59(#zafemuq) I know. I deleted the IMG on purpose to test if it would propegate to the yarn pods. It was a test post as part of another talk on yarn/twtxt to some of my fellow nørds here in Copenhagen
- 2022-01-11 @ 17:24(#54z7cba) Fair enough. I'm also not using it in the wild. But I still like the idea behi do to not reinvent the wheel and using existing infrastructure
- 2022-01-10 @ 22:14(#ghr5ykq) I have been using nvalt on mac for over 10 year. keep coming back to it. Also uses sublime text with the plaintask plugin that mimic taskpaper
- 2022-01-10 @ 22:05(#ghr5ykq) That look like a nice note/todo tool to wrangle my plaintext/markdown obsession
- 2022-01-10 @ 09:40(#u5t4jaa) @prologic well you are free to build what you like and using search/indexing as the backbone would definitely be a good option and then everyone can make their own setups as they like.
My Pixelblog project is just me trying to scratch my own itch. Nobody says yarn needs to do the same thing😊
- 2022-01-10 @ 09:35(#a3msvvq) Wuhoo🎉 catch me on chat🧶darch.dk or my gmail
- 2022-01-10 @ 05:49(#2ybh4za) @fastidious whell it not really a new content type lige blogs og chat/DM. It only a render of the timeline in a visuals way. And it coulde maybe be a form of lists, which is a feature i think more people are interested in
- 2022-01-10 @ 05:45(#u5t4jaa) @prologic good question. I think the later would be most fair, but the first one might be a bit easier to implement. Also it should only be images from original posts, not images uploaded as part of replies.
- 2022-01-10 @ 05:43(#u5t4jaa) @ullarah yes excslly, but the text could be the alt text of watch images shown on hover. Clicking on an image will take you to the post it appeared in.
- 2022-01-09 @ 18:07(#u5t4jaa) @prologic I'm not worried:)
- 2022-01-09 @ 18:02(#u5t4jaa) I got it working i a very hacky way on: https://darch.dk/twtxt/gallery.php when i just scrape a folder for images to render the gallery grid and link back to the post by using a prefixed date i added to the images to match with the posts date
- 2022-01-09 @ 18:00(#u5t4jaa) @prologic
⏬
🪙
- 2022-01-09 @ 17:50(#u5t4jaa) @prologic I could but it would not be on my own domain and with my own styling. The feature I'm after is just this: https://www.prologic.blog/photos/
- 2022-01-09 @ 17:42(#3wunwyq) @prologic I'm aware that is very slow atm because it's loading the full res images. I'm planning to have it generate thumbnails. As of now it's mostly a mockup.
- 2022-01-09 @ 17:38(#gvl3joa) @prologic Cool, but still not really what I'm going for. I would like to have a timeline view of only images, not a grid within each post, though that is a nice too:)
- 2022-01-09 @ 17:34(#j66xmgq) @prologic Gotcha👍 Then we should update the instructions on yarn.social to reflects this:

- 2022-01-09 @ 17:30(#3wunwyq) #pixelblog is more about having a gallery-grid render of all the images posted by a user to server as a visual portfolio like this one: https://darch.dk/twtxt/gallery.php
- 2022-01-09 @ 17:28(#ninijqq) @prologic but I want to 😁 (and it's called pixelblog;)
- 2022-01-09 @ 15:29(#uw7fcga) @fastidious yes you could call it a peermans (sic) version of yarnd. I use php because that is what I know and it is available on cheep hosting so it can be as plug and play as possible for the most amount of people.
- 2022-01-09 @ 14:21(#6jn5phq) nevermind it seem to be back again
- 2022-01-09 @ 14:17(#6jn5phq)

- 2022-01-09 @ 14:12@prologic Is there a problem with the catch right now?

- 2022-01-09 @ 13:52(#gvl3joa) @fastidious @prologic I would rather let yarn be the client for posting to pixelblog and a way to do that could be to Use post-as to post to external twtxt.txt files via picoblog's API
- 2022-01-09 @ 13:47I just dropped a bomb for breaking all of our yarnverse, but something I believe will make yarn more user-friendly: Idea for new nick/URL scheme for pods: nick.domain.tld
- 2022-01-09 @ 13:25(#j66xmgq) @prologic does that also go for the avatar? I like the idea that you can just dump the image next to the twtxt.txt and you don't need to add metadata.
- 2022-01-09 @ 13:23(#gvl3joa) @fastidious The parsing of the twtxt is very simple (by picoblog) and to begin with i will keep it very raw and easy for others to make it into their own blog. It work fine on mobile as far as i have tested it. The core idea is to have a handful of php-files you can put on any server and it just works. I'm not planning to make it into a full blow client with linked conversation. My focus is just to offer a nice render of your own content on your own domain and a basic option to make new posts and upload images.
- 2022-01-09 @ 13:16(#gvl3joa) @thecanine Yes that is kinda the idea to build a photo/images focused interface on top of twtxt. I been trough a lots of names, but for now I'm setting on on PixelBlog, that is inspired from picoblog (php twtxt render) and Pixelfed (fediverse instagram clone).
- 2022-01-08 @ 18:00(#gvl3joa) @prologic @sorenpeter do have an avatar (http://darch.dk/avatar.png) but maybe you changed the specs so it needs to be defined in http://darch.dk/twtxt.txt ?
Also you can have a look at what I'm building currently: Say hello to http://darch.dk/pixelblog (still very WIP!)
- 2022-01-01 @ 12:46(#s4mrw2q) @prologic happy new year 🎉 I do understand and speaks some German, but no nearly enough to help with translation. And even less with Dutch. But I can do a Danish translation at some point 😊
- 2021-12-27 @ 18:25(#oyqg6ja) Sonic Pi is also what by co-livecoder terminal --void is using when we are perfoming: http://algorave.dk/videos/ - im making the visuals in improviz combined with my own graphics and glsl shaders
I'm also a big fan of DJ_Dave
- 2021-12-19 @ 19:51Just noticed the new logo:D Very nice!
- 2021-12-19 @ 19:48(#zulowoa) haha i like the logo with the dogs
- 2021-12-16 @ 18:59(#flzgtzq) @lyse Nice i found Eskimo Callboys around a year ago. Another similar rabbit hole is nanowar of steel and this one is an x-mas song...
- 2021-12-16 @ 17:22(#n6amdia) All good😊
- 2021-12-16 @ 14:32(#n6amdia) @jlj Thank for the headsup. But TBH, I have not used it for a wild.
- 2021-12-14 @ 15:40(#7visjoa) @prologic I'm planning to spin up my own, just need to find the right domain name
- 2021-12-14 @ 15:35(#7visjoa) I hope he and many other will joins us some day:)
- 2021-12-14 @ 15:23(#3t2gklq) 🙃
Y *= -1
- 2021-12-14 @ 15:19When you think the beeeps are part of a techno mix, but you forgot to properly close the door to the fridge...
- 2021-12-14 @ 13:24(#paq6cna) See: https://twtxt.net/twt/ida5ssa
and: https://medium.com/an-idea/the-details-of-a-dropdown-a817dc27e545
and: https://til.simonwillison.net/javascript/dropdown-menu-with-details-summary
- 2021-12-14 @ 13:13(#paq6cna) yes there is a way to make a dropdown with pure CSS using
and
.
I got it work in an ealier version of my theme, but I don't think it is in the git-repo. - 2021-12-14 @ 13:10(#yxeid6a) But feeds.twtxt.net does not render the images from the rss:
- 2021-12-14 @ 13:08(#yxeid6a) mastodon have build in rss: Just add
.rss
to a users url:
https://botsin.space/@randomColorContrasts.rss -->
https://twtxt.net/external?uri=https%3a%2f%2ffeeds.twtxt.net%2frandom-color-contrasts-atrandomcolorcontrastsatbotsin-space%2ftwtxt.txt&nick=random-color-contrasts-atrandomcolorcontrastsatbotsin-space - 2021-12-14 @ 09:22(#idz6nna) @jlj nice feed he got going. The we just need way to follow mastodon via feeds.twtxt.net
- 2021-12-12 @ 13:08(#4v3naiq) Maybe do away with the @-sign since it is kinda confusing. Like us only shows the domain but the real URL is not there at least not when the feed is on a yarn pod
- 2021-12-12 @ 12:47(#4v3naiq) I would not split up nick@domain since the meaning of this is needed to identify a person/feed compared to Twitter og Instagram handle. Hand to explain...
- 2021-12-11 @ 18:11(#zgh6xda) @fastidious yes I'm on mobil now. Dunno about desktop/laptop
- 2021-12-11 @ 17:47(#zgh6xda) Look good. Now you need to move the nick and time close to the image. Probably some padding or margin on either the img or the divs containing the text
- 2021-12-11 @ 17:11(#zgh6xda) You should not use
px
but em
or rem
so the size will fit with your sceensize instead of some abitrary pixel number - 2021-12-08 @ 12:55(#4yesxga) @ullarah ´sp´ is probally me on my localhost pod
- 2021-12-06 @ 15:29(#uhdpkja) The way i have designed my theme it should be easy to change the colors (incl. a darkmode) and how round the avatar is to the pod operators liking by editing the vars in https://git.mills.io/yarnsocial/themes/src/branch/master/copenhagen/static/css/99-yarn.css
But there should be noting broken, just minor adjustments to be made by the community, so I see no reason why we should not at least _try_ to make it the main theme here on twtxt.net - That is why I been working on it for the last year almost.
- 2021-12-06 @ 13:29(#ehchhdq) @fastidious whell you are free to use the old team on your pod. Getting a new default team will also work as an incentive for other to contribute the fixed you suggest
- 2021-12-06 @ 13:14(#uhdpkja) @prologic so can we make my theme the default on ver. 1?
- 2021-12-06 @ 11:54(#uhdpkja)

- 2021-12-06 @ 11:50(#uhdpkja) @prologic @thecanine All you wishes are all ready there in my theme. Just go git it
- 2021-12-05 @ 08:16(#qei2gja) Darch comes from my last Mørch which means dark in Danish but it spell mørk when it is not a name. And since you can't use æøå I emails I just came up with sp_darch when I created my very first Hotmail back the late 90s. Pronounced: dark
- 2021-12-04 @ 12:42(#osc23qa) @prologic there in 5 min
- 2021-12-04 @ 11:12(#mbzcyqa) Will the list be public or for each user to set up their own list?
- 2021-12-03 @ 21:47(#lhlqcca) I hope I have planted some seeds, so we will see if any pods starts to pop up
- 2021-12-03 @ 16:20(#urb3unq) @fastidious ah gotcha. I have no idea. I have never coded anything in JS, besides some p5js sketches.
- 2021-12-03 @ 15:22(#uml4pea) @fastidious why do you need JS, when we got https://twtxt.net/search?tag=tags
- 2021-12-03 @ 14:17(#uml4pea) @fastidious I had similar ideas about timeline view with or without replies. A 3th option would be to be able to set filters on specific #tags. not something we use much yet, but if there was a UI to support it like in picoblog (e.g. http://darch.dk/twtxt/?tag=tag ) then i think it would be used more.
- 2021-12-03 @ 13:10(#cafzawq) It was 2 hours ago... And it was all in Danish since everyone how showed op was danes

- 2021-12-03 @ 06:23(#4gqqlxa) @prologic what about delta.chat ?
- 2021-12-03 @ 06:18(#wi7igaq) @prologic I can ask the organizer
- 2021-12-03 @ 06:15(#cafzawq) There is a password in the FB event. Look again
- 2021-11-30 @ 10:34(#dg54gba) I believe most, if not all, the twitter profiles have some
UserDescription
It would be nice to have that shown as well.
Alternativly twtxtfeeds could autofill # description =
with a comment that this feed it taken from twitter and generated by twtxtfeeds / feeds.twtxt.net
Not sure if we can find a way to fit in both.
Also what about # source = twitter://delta_chat
being a propper link to twitter: https://twitter.com/delta_chat
?
https://feeds.twtxt.net/twitter-delta_chat/twtxt.txt - 2021-11-30 @ 07:13(#mzawc5a) Collapsable box is (was?) already a thing

- 2021-11-29 @ 21:33(#mzawc5a) the whole feeds of feeds needs some works
- 2021-11-29 @ 20:24(#zynf6rq) @fastidious better wake up early;)
- 2021-11-29 @ 20:13(#zynf6rq) @fastidious you can join via zoom. Not sure about recording though...
- 2021-11-29 @ 20:06So on Friday I will be giving a talk and workshop on twtxt and yarn.social at Aalborg University in Copenhagen. Ironically it is only being promoted on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/2791193627840528
- 2021-11-28 @ 21:06#memes

- 2021-11-27 @ 11:13(#4cyn3ra) @ullarah Nice I was about to suggest to center the icons above the text also. ( _I_ do love to work with CSS;)
- 2021-11-27 @ 08:49(#p4y25la) @ullarah Really cool responsive menu you have made:) At this breakpoint we should only show the icons, so we avoid the linebreak.

- 2021-11-27 @ 06:57(#26bktha) Or at least links. Alternatively adding a list of links to your profile.
- 2021-11-26 @ 13:14(#42o4sra) @prologic i will catch you Sunday
- 2021-11-26 @ 12:45(#42o4sra) Yup seems like in does not load my CSS. Maybe if it called something else than
yarn.min.css
- 2021-11-26 @ 11:46(#42o4sra) @prologic Looks like an issue in your end. it works fine on my localhost and testpod...
- 2021-11-26 @ 09:43(#42o4sra) @ullarah Glad you like it :)
- 2021-11-26 @ 09:13@prologic Fixed the footer + minified the css, so try to give my theme another spin https://git.mills.io/yarnsocial/themes
- 2021-11-24 @ 21:28(#knlzd4q) I have been using keepass in various version for many years. Keep the database file in my Dropbox and there are clients for all OS
- 2021-11-24 @ 14:40(#yvd76ea) @ullarah have you tried
stroke-width: 1.25;
instead as on https://github.com/tabler/tabler-icons href="?tag=multiple" class="tag">#multiple-strokes ? - 2021-11-24 @ 07:18(#3yg37aa) @prologic the new strikethrough in tabler-icons v1.45.0 looks good.
Just replace the font file in
themes/static/css

- 2021-11-23 @ 22:50(#3yg37aa) @lyse yes it's https://tabler-icons.io/i/letter-s
- 2021-11-23 @ 22:45(#3yg37aa) Also i would make the B bolder:
.ti-bold:before {
content: "\eb7b";
font-weight: 900;
}

- 2021-11-23 @ 22:36(#3yg37aa) Whell that wasn't that hard:
.ti-strikethrough:before {
content: "\ec62";
text-decoration: line-through;
}
- 2021-11-23 @ 22:24(#3yg37aa)
S s - 2021-11-23 @ 22:16(#3yg37aa) @prologic chimped in with my two cent
- 2021-11-23 @ 19:36(#2gb4f5a) Rolling back to an earlier version just breaks a lot of other icons. And I can't find a way to replace it without some really ugly hacks (aka. a lot of work). So let's just keep the "tophat" for now.
- 2021-11-23 @ 15:25(#2gb4f5a) I prefer the
S
strikethroughed over the U
- maybe change to Light mode to see the image.
I will make a PR for using the S-strikethrough tonight. - 2021-11-23 @ 15:18(#2gb4f5a) we just need to roll back to https://github.com/tabler/tabler-icons/releases/tag/v1.38.1 for this

- 2021-11-23 @ 15:03(#2gb4f5a) https://github.com/tabler/tabler-icons/issues/146 and https://github.com/tabler/tabler-icons/blob/ccf2784b57e42a2b2221963f92146fd7b249b5b7/.github/tabler-icons-1.3.0.svg
- 2021-11-23 @ 14:30(#pilsvtq) Looks good to me. Except the strike-through icon looks like a dick...
- 2021-11-23 @ 08:22(#eyhxhoq) @prologic I really don’t know what up with the footer. I tried to just use the same CSS and HTML code as the default theme.
I’m heading to work now myself...
- 2021-11-23 @ 08:06(#eyhxhoq) @prologic i did but I have been wild...😬
- 2021-11-23 @ 07:41(#eyhxhoq) @prologic that is not an issue on my theme, which I believe is ready for the wild now (https://yarn.algorave.dk/)

- 2021-11-23 @ 00:09(#57zofgq) @prologic oh yes I see: @https://feeds.twtxt.net/twitter-MattGrayYES/twtxt.txt>
- 2021-11-22 @ 23:56(#57zofgq) @prologic so it is some caching/timing thing?
- 2021-11-22 @ 23:46(#57zofgq) @prologic seem to work now. did you do anything to fix it besides sleeping on it?
- 2021-11-22 @ 22:45(#jojl34a) --> 38b3a3b7cc
- 2021-11-22 @ 22:38(#jojl34a) @ullarah What is the issue? I have been converting my theme to use tabler-icons instead of openmoji tonight, which means I'm also very close at having a working dark/light mode.
- 2021-11-22 @ 12:09(#57zofgq) @prologic it is the new one that is not getting the right avatar, not the old ones...
- 2021-11-22 @ 12:03(#q7t7x4q) indeed. What is the deal with loading avatars from twitter? It works for feed i added some time ago (@https://feeds.twtxt.net/twitter-delta_chat/twtxt.txt>), but not these new ones (@https://feeds.twtxt.net/twitter-ilithya_rocks/twtxt.txt> and @https://feeds.twtxt.net/twitter-iamelizasj/twtxt.txt>)
- 2021-11-22 @ 11:50(#tpecvcq) To see inline images from artists I follow on twitter (via feeds.twtxt.net;) like: https://twtxt.net/external?uri=https%3a%2f%2ffeeds.twtxt.net%2ftwitter-zachlieberman%2ftwtxt.txt&nick=twitter-zachlieberman
- 2021-11-22 @ 11:39@prologic Hi, will you whitelist twitter's media server
twimg.com
? - 2021-11-20 @ 21:39

- 2021-11-20 @ 17:23(#6kmqofa) @ionores how is it?
- 2021-11-20 @ 16:30(#6kmqofa) @ionores Thanks for the headsup. Try again now. NB: this pod is not mean to be use for everyday yarn'ing - it's my test pod
- 2021-11-20 @ 15:15(#6kmqofa) And you can try it out here
- 2021-11-20 @ 15:14Update to my Copenhagen theme:
- Fixed hard coded links in header to be dynamic
- Add Mobile Styling, so it should work okay on smaller displays
(still stuff todo...) - 2021-11-19 @ 15:05(#xufbjgq) @fastidious how is this?

- 2021-11-19 @ 08:27(#oe4juqq) @deebs thanks😊
- 2021-11-19 @ 06:58(#oe4juqq) @prologic cool, noted😊
- 2021-11-19 @ 06:45(#oe4juqq) But for sure I do t think it's that much work we need to fix the last issues in my theme. Just been a busy week. I hope to have sone time this weekend
- 2021-11-19 @ 06:42(#oe4juqq) @prologic yes you can see it in the screenshot I linked to and try it out for yourself by running the theme
- 2021-11-19 @ 06:16(#oe4juqq) @deebs that is exactly what I did in my Copenhagen theme
I posted some screenshots some time ago: https://twtxt.net/twt/knlqsca
- 2021-11-19 @ 06:11(#oe4juqq) @prologic i fixed this in my Copenhagen theme
I posted some screenshots some time ago: https://twtxt.net/twt/knlqsca
- 2021-11-18 @ 09:14Should we have some kind of kanban-board for all our odd ideas of new yarn features?
- 2021-11-18 @ 09:03(#meoufpq) @thecanine I like the idea of some kind of toggle replies on/off just to try this feature out
- 2021-11-18 @ 07:54(#meoufpq) @prologic it is, but I do the webfrontend for the library's digital platforms
- 2021-11-18 @ 07:51(#czdcw6q) @prologic yeah a lot of apartments in Copenhagen still uses gas for cooking.
- 2021-11-18 @ 07:41(#czdcw6q)

- 2021-11-18 @ 07:28#morningCoffee

- 2021-11-18 @ 06:22(#meoufpq) Hey! I'm here and I consider myself a UI/UX developer 😬
I had similar ideas to make the timeline less messy by hiding reply-posts.
So let's try this idea. Maybe add the time ago for the latest reply.
Also I think this should be separate from the normal timeline. Something like "collapsed timeline". Or the old render should be called "timeline with replies"
- 2021-11-17 @ 20:50(#6wvqgeq) yes everyone bikes in Copenhagen
- 2021-11-17 @ 20:38Summer in Copenhagen

- 2021-11-17 @ 20:36Fall in Copenhagen

- 2021-11-16 @ 15:45(#ljd3q7a) @fastidious I use the mobile web version more than the app, but I have focus first on the Desktop in my work on my theme. Good thing I'm free to make my theme they way I see fit - and you yours:)
- 2021-11-16 @ 15:28(#ljd3q7a) @prologic Maybe "patronizing" is not the right word. But I do think that "Yarn" is too much slag compared to "Conversation" that everyone can understand.
- 2021-11-16 @ 15:13(#swx5eua) @prologic Sure I can write you a more specific TODO :)
- 2021-11-16 @ 14:22(#swx5eua) @thecanine Well i know @jlj is/was running his pod of a Rapsberry Pi, so it not that heavy to run
- 2021-11-16 @ 14:20(#swx5eua) @prologic I need help with the stuff in the README
- 2021-11-16 @ 11:00(#swx5eua) @eldersnake well you just go grab it 😎 and maybe fix the broken parts😉
- 2021-11-16 @ 10:27(#ursw63a) and "Yarn" used to be called Conversation. I have also change that back in my design to be less patronizing to newcomers
- 2021-11-16 @ 10:13(#ursw63a) "Reply" will append to the ongoing conversation. "Fork" will make a new branch of the conversation. I have implemented a new way to render this, that I hope will make more sense in my Copenhagen-theme. This it how it looks on my test-pod

- 2021-11-16 @ 06:53(#lnfd42q) @fastidious @prologic well I change it for a reason. To make it easier to read and to consistent with the other ways of showing numbers/context info like the time ago counters and down the like also "Follower/-ing (123)"
Also the screen estate is there to be used😉
- 2021-11-16 @ 06:46(#65nlpdq) @prologic sure thing. I actually made a new commit without that mess.
Also I like the arrow and highlight of the author👌 but there seem to be too much space over the txt-context now - at least on mobil:

- 2021-11-15 @ 22:59(#w76zd4q) It took a long time to do such a simple thing: https://git.mills.io/yarnsocial/yarn/commit/242785c9eb8e2af5da4cfb17a1aa6b4c5f0fcb2f
I really wanted to place the in-reply on the same line as post-time-ago+bookmark, but pico.css or some other omen would not let me (at least not tonight)
(BONUS: I "fixed" the badge to not scream LOOOK AT ME! I'M A NOTIFICATION! ;)

- 2021-11-15 @ 18:16(#w76zd4q) @fastidious Gracias!
- 2021-11-15 @ 18:09(#w76zd4q) @prologic How do I activate the new twt-context on my own pod?
- 2021-11-15 @ 18:09(#w76zd4q) @fastidious Sorry don't really get your reasoning here...
- 2021-11-15 @ 10:40(#w76zd4q) @prologic yes i can look at the default theme as well:)
- 2021-11-15 @ 09:53(#w76zd4q) Also there is no need to render the twt-context in conversation view ;)
- 2021-11-15 @ 09:51(#w76zd4q) @prologic if the
![]()
is somewhere in the template I will take care of making it look right with my rad CSSkillz™ it could be hidden in a
for a start - 2021-11-15 @ 09:36(#w76zd4q) hmm good questing if it's an image-only post, maybe just show the image icon like for non-whitelisted images links. or maybe we don't deal with these issues just yet😅
- 2021-11-15 @ 09:30(#w76zd4q) @prologic What part sounds really hard?
- 2021-11-15 @ 09:12(#w76zd4q) @prologic I would use
small
over em
, but i will try to style it in my copenhagen-theme sometime this week hopefully. Can you provide the avatar and date-time or time-ago as well? And maybe also render the markdown, not just show the plaintext:
- 2021-11-15 @ 09:07(#w76zd4q) @prologic A really good start :)
- 2021-11-14 @ 09:40(#wixssoa) @prologic good to know it can be brought back😊 at least until we get
in-reply-to
preview working - 2021-11-14 @ 09:12What happend to the twt-hashed that indicates this is a reply to another post? The numbers badge is not enough to help navigating the timeline and help desicde if you should open op a post to see it in context/conversation view
- 2021-11-12 @ 08:07(#3lkdtda) @prologic nice one🚀🪄
- 2021-11-12 @ 07:11(#d2uw2na) @prologic if you still need something to do today, you can take a look at the TODOs in my theme. I pushed it to the new themes repo yesterday
- 2021-11-12 @ 06:49(#ojngxmq) @prologic nope, yarn.algorave.dk was just set up for me to eat my own catfood in the work related to the UI and I might use it for the workshop that I will be doing here in December. So no need to follow, but you are welcome to just for testing stuff out
- 2021-11-11 @ 23:07(#2abigoa) @prologic thx, then we just need the rest of the yarnsphere to look just as nice😉
- 2021-11-11 @ 22:52(#7evtnvq) We were also talking about having a official yarn logo and not just some pseudorandom chipart of a yarn ball - is that something you would be wuff for?
- 2021-11-11 @ 22:36(#hghxkca) On the yarn pod or www.algorave.dk ?
- 2021-11-11 @ 21:51(#ojngxmq) Thank you. I have also worked on it for the last 6 months or so. you can grap it from https://git.mills.io/yarnsocial/themes/src/branch/master/copenhagen
Stil WIP for some parts (see the readme;)
- 2021-11-11 @ 21:48(#hghxkca) @jlj thanks, just something I banged together😊
- 2021-11-11 @ 21:41(#ojngxmq) @mckinley it was fixed. The post was just from before the fix I guess
- 2021-11-11 @ 21:16(#ojngxmq) will this copy/pasted hash work from @darch2 ?
- 2021-11-11 @ 21:11(#3w62djq) @mckinley thanks, but i already got
-u https://yarn.algorave.dk
on... - 2021-11-11 @ 20:40Thanks to @xuu and @lyse for the hacky help getting this running with
no.php
;)

- 2021-11-11 @ 20:08(#3w62djq) hmm the hash is wrong compared to this: https://yarn.algorave.dk/twt/6otp3ka
- 2021-11-11 @ 20:05(#3w62djq) @darch2 well hello hello there "@me"
- 2021-11-11 @ 06:32(#hzrblbq) @marado you are welcome. Yes I also still need a timeline render. Found some PHP attempt if this on github, but nothing that I could get working. Keep me posted about your project 😊
- 2021-11-11 @ 06:26(#mlakmda) @prologic cool, got some CSS code for a dropdrop from my UI redesign that we can implement
- 2021-11-11 @ 06:03(#hfal6kq) @prologic 🎉 i will help you sorting out how to best place the new links for each post in the UI for best UX.
It could also be in an edit timeline option under settings. What will the share do?
- 2021-11-10 @ 14:08(#hzrblbq) @marado sound interesting:) I kind did this using https://0xff.nu/picoblog and my own https://github.com/sorenpeter/phpub2twtxt/ so maybe you can use some code for here. There are some API options in picoblog that you might be able to work off.
- 2021-11-10 @ 08:52(#hfal6kq) @prologic In regards to GDPR I was thinking of the Right to rectification and the Right to erasure (‘right to be forgotten’)
- 2021-11-10 @ 08:14(#hfal6kq) it should be state cleary somewhere that you can always ask the podamin to manually remove a post from your twtxt.txt if needed. otherwise we might conflict with GDPR. it could be on a Getting started or FAQ page.
- 2021-11-10 @ 06:47(#ckktwaa) @prologic yes I think I should overwrite the oldest post and in that way respect edits, see feed for @sorenpeter3
- 2021-11-10 @ 06:28(#2gtv3la) Thx😊
- 2021-11-10 @ 06:23(#hfal6kq) I vore againt removing the edit and delete feature! If I'm the minority here then it should at least be replaced with a preview before posting similar to some shuttlebutt clients and a waring that you can not undo this after you pressed send.
- 2021-11-10 @ 00:00(#2gtv3la) @prologic nope
neocities\.org
is not whitelisted for images as of yet: https://twtxt.net/twt/iowdgmq
- 2021-11-09 @ 23:40(#ckktwaa) Scientists Simulated Desert Planet Arrakis To See If It's Habitable: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mC1yZVqtwxY
- 2021-11-09 @ 23:16(#2gtv3la) @prologic not tyring out images at neocities.org yet. I have been asked to do a workshop on building your own social network based on yarn/twtxt so is testing ways for easily spinning up a twtxt.txt
https://darch.neocities.org/post-sh.txt
- 2021-11-09 @ 22:35(#4vabx3q) @prologic my bad I was using a wrong date format
- 2021-11-09 @ 21:27@prologic did you blacklist darch.neocities.org ?
- 2021-11-09 @ 17:10(#ecvtwmq) @adi yup:)
- 2021-11-09 @ 15:15(#knlqsca) @prologic including the use SVGs from openmoji.org is also on the todo-list in the readme;)
- 2021-11-09 @ 15:03(#knlqsca) @fastidious hmm yeah that does look right... The yellow parts you can fix by commenting out the
.dev-note
in yarn.css - but bear in mind that these are hardcoding/non-working features/mockups. It also does not look like it can load icons from openmoji.org ...
do you have some kind of firewall running? - 2021-11-09 @ 14:17(#knlqsca) @fastidious can you post a screenshot?
- 2021-11-09 @ 14:07(#knlqsca) @prologic
sp
is my initials for my first names "søren peter" - 2021-11-09 @ 13:45(#knlqsca) @fastidious Also did you download the theme again after @prologic fixed the issue?
- 2021-11-09 @ 13:44(#knlqsca) Thanks @adi
- 2021-11-09 @ 13:44(#knlqsca) @fastidious The user "sp" is hardcoded in some places because i have no idea how to make it relative. See the README on the git-repo;)
- 2021-11-09 @ 07:06(#hpozvjq) @prologic yes please let me know what you find it not working. also did you see the readme? it contains a lot of things i don't really know how to fix
- 2021-11-09 @ 06:25(#4u4kayq) @jlj called it "brother" then
- 2021-11-09 @ 06:05(#hpozvjq) @prologic sure thing. I was trying to create a new default theme I have a modest hope to see it online her on twtxt.net when it is ready for it
- 2021-11-08 @ 20:11(#knlqsca) @thecanine yes me like too. and there is roundness var in the css for you to easily decide how square you want it to be
- 2021-11-08 @ 20:10(#knlqsca) @quark what command did you start it with?
I'm using
./yarnd -D -R -A sp -t myTheme
- 2021-11-08 @ 19:27New theme for yarn is up now at: https://git.mills.io/sorenpeter/darchTheme
Still needs some work, but please have a go with it and hack away

- 2021-11-04 @ 06:08(#6ywpjna) @eldersnake (because vim won't let you out again? ;)
- 2021-11-02 @ 00:07hmm why can't I follow:
https://twtxt.rosaelefanten.org/twtxt.txt
https://twtxt.rosaelefanten.org
? - 2021-11-01 @ 01:13(#dg72qqa) @prologic
not sure why the other links are not there for you...

- 2021-11-01 @ 00:43(#dg72qqa)

- 2021-10-31 @ 23:15(#dg72qqa) hmm when i go to a page with an external user all three counters say "a long while ago"

- 2021-10-31 @ 23:04(#dg72qqa) forgot to rebuild, but it works now:D

- 2021-10-31 @ 22:53(#dg72qqa)
error executing template timeline: template: timeline:144:49: executing "base" at <.TimelineUpdatedAt>: can't evaluate field TimelineUpdatedAt in type *internal.Context
- 2021-10-31 @ 22:46(#dg72qqa) @prologic gotha:)
- 2021-10-31 @ 22:33(#dg72qqa) @prologic Cool, but I don't see it here on twtxt.net yet...
- 2021-10-31 @ 01:16(#l2thfrq) @prologic I see a cow just over the horizon
- 2021-10-29 @ 06:31(#iaxmyuq) @prologic i dont think we need a read status for Yarn. It would just add stress/angst like any kind of notification. I much prefer the stateless nature of how yarn works now.
- 2021-10-28 @ 18:06(#zsblufa) Gotcha, my idea was only to provide announcement about the events. All the rspv data should not be part of the yarn/twtxt ecosystem. I would link to something like gath.io or facebook events for this
- 2021-10-28 @ 18:02(#skioyiq) @prologic I already backed up my two blogpost👍 and thanks @adi I bealve I head about some awesome tool of yours somewhere on this thing called the internet
- 2021-10-28 @ 17:22(#zsblufa) @prologic not sure I understand what you mean here...?!
- 2021-10-28 @ 17:14(#skioyiq) what will happen with the blogposts we have already created here on twtxt.net?
- 2021-10-28 @ 16:58(#eek7qna) This can be done simple by putting them in a detail/summary html-tag

- 2021-10-28 @ 16:55(#eek7qna) @prologic

- 2021-10-28 @ 16:36(#eek7qna) @prologic How are you gonna punish us? Me and @sorenpeter are gonna keep posting in the future for a way to promote upcoming events. I have seen @Devine Lu Linvega been doing the same. I would argue that that client/reader should be able to filter out these future posts into its own list, like we got the timeline and mentions :)
- 2021-10-28 @ 16:28(#skioyiq) @prologic yeah I have also been speaking for removing the blog features along with the private messages and have yarn.social only focus on being a great twtxt client/server solution. blogs an chat are abundant available already.
- 2021-10-28 @ 16:21(#6vztrga) @eldersnake @sorenpeter3 is just me testing free hosting at neocities and typed in the timestamp by hand so that is why it is in the future (for now;)
- 2021-10-26 @ 18:29> Having a yarn: a short history of Aussie journos’ favourite word
> Australian Twitter is full of journalists from Bondi to Fitzroy telling everyone to read their latest "yarn".
https://www.crikey.com.au/2019/02/22/yarn-australian-journalism/
- 2021-10-26 @ 18:24(#co5hwpq) Also we need to headlines indicating what view you are one. Right now i belive we only got it for conversations/yarns. That would be:
- Discovery (POD or GLOBAL timeline)
- USER Timeline
- USER Metions
- Bookmarks for USER
- Conversation/Yarn
- other lists?
- 2021-10-26 @ 18:10(#co5hwpq) @prologic lists of bookmarks? or lists of posts filtered by #tags?
- 2021-10-25 @ 07:37(#htlz3oq) @prologic oh yeah, let's try to make themes a thing👍
- 2021-10-25 @ 07:07(#htlz3oq) @prologic no apology needed:) I was also just in a need of a brainless rest yesterday myself. Yeah let's try this coming weekend:) And with all the latest changes to the UI I think it high time for me to get my code out there as well:)
- 2021-10-25 @ 06:17(#isobgnq) @news hmm okay, I'm not sure everyone will know what yarn means compared to conversation, so not sure I like this new feature. Is the meaning of yarn explained on the default about page and on yarn.social?
- 2021-10-24 @ 03:35(#byjrkua) She have just not set a timezome for her feed and her local time is ahead of the rest of us
- 2021-10-24 @ 03:13@prologic (#ulxkdqa) g'night😴
- 2021-10-23 @ 16:34(#tnxnmka) @prologic can the list of followers and following also show the URL even thou you are on the same pod? It will help with the people who have more feeds/pods but uses the same Nick across pods
- 2021-10-23 @ 16:26(#xcpbuhq) @prologic are you doing another video call tomorrow? I would like some help with git and all the changes i made to the UI (if i'm not too hangover that is;)
- 2021-10-23 @ 15:53(#6gszxta) I'm planning to use twtxt/yarn for posting my art and allready does at my other feed http://darch.dk/twtxt
- 2021-10-23 @ 07:38(#z3aysjq) +1 for yarn or yarn.social
- 2021-10-22 @ 23:23(#6gszxta) @eldersnake I seen the number and get what is is about. It is just the alerty notification look and feel to it that is putting me off
- 2021-10-22 @ 23:22(#6gszxta) but it is nice that the conversation links is now only shown when there are any replies 👍
- 2021-10-22 @ 22:56@prologic what's with the red dots at the conversations links?! They kinda stresses me out since you can't get rid of them...
- 2021-10-22 @ 00:42(#icngulq) @prologic I have an idea to just skip the nick-field under /follow and only show it if no nick is found.
An expansion of this is to integrate it with rss2twtxt (can't remember the new name), so you will just have one field that you pop in an URL to and then it will resolve what kind of feed it is - be it twtxt.txt, rss/atom, twitter, youtube, etc.
- 2021-10-22 @ 00:35(#icngulq) @prologic nope, but a way to edit you perfered nick for a user would be nice. right now it seem you need to unfollow and re-follow them to change it ;)
- 2021-10-22 @ 00:33(#o7jkpza) @prologic can we have a button to add quotes in the post-form?
> is this how it is done?
>

- 2021-10-22 @ 00:31(#vadltya) @prologic Yup, but https://twtxt.net/follow?nick=fastidious&url=https%3a%2f%2farrakis.netbros.com%2fuser%2ffastidious%2ftwtxt.txt
https://arrakis.netbros.com/user/fastidious/twtxt.txt
does not seem to work anymore... - 2021-10-22 @ 00:29(#o7jkpza) @prologic yes totally ageed. so the "bug" was somewhere else in the fact that i did not follow the right one of fastidious 3 feeds
- 2021-10-22 @ 00:14(#o7jkpza) @prologic Ah I think it was because I did not follow
fastidious@tt.vltra.plus
- 2021-10-22 @ 00:04(#o7jkpza) @prologic hmm now it works
- 2021-10-21 @ 23:35#BUG (or feature?) when I hit reply twtxt.net no longer fill in the
@mention
of the persons who's post I'm replying to... - 2021-10-21 @ 23:23(#ida5ssa) @fastidious thank you and I guess you like the colors especially looking at your own pod-design
- 2021-10-21 @ 23:13(#ida5ssa) And now no colors:

- 2021-10-21 @ 23:09(#ida5ssa) And in between:

- 2021-10-21 @ 23:06(#ida5ssa) Trying something a bit more airy

- 2021-10-21 @ 20:44Now with a dropdown menu for a less cluttered UI:

- 2021-10-21 @ 06:27(#ctdtuta) @prologic also I used the pod name var in this logo, but the pod description is hardcodes right now
- 2021-10-21 @ 06:24(#ctdtuta) @prologic thanks🙂 and yes adding the time ago for timeline and mentions in the topnenu and the in-reply-to for each reply would be great. But we can role this new design out without it if needed. I need to finished rebuilding the CSS for all the subpages as well. I have decided to not base it on one specific CSS template, but to patch it together for different ones alongside my own code. This way we can also make sure it it is easier to customize for pod owners.
- 2021-10-20 @ 21:06(#ctdtuta) @jlj @quark thank you. The yarn logo and other icons are from openmoji, so I can't take credit for that. I still need some help with implementing some of the hinted at functionalities that are not in the old design.
- 2021-10-20 @ 20:12(#ctdtuta)

- 2021-10-20 @ 11:18(#ctdtuta) @eldersnake @prologic I don't have much experiance with SVG.
What I would do is to design it in HTML and CSS so it will render something like this:
+------+-------------------+
| | Pod-name |
| LOGO |-------------------+
| | A yarn.social pod |
+------+-------------------+
- 2021-10-20 @ 09:40(#ctdtuta) For a more compact look I would place the text next to the yarn-ball instead of over and under - this is made in mspaint.exe, so no SVG yet...

- 2021-10-18 @ 10:01(#755faba) @prologic @jlj Wow, really nice logo indeed. A totally different feel than what I had in mind/working on
- 2021-10-14 @ 10:20(#ldtcasq) Right here on twtxt.net

- 2021-10-14 @ 10:10(#3tlepcq) @prologic what is possible?
- 2021-10-14 @ 10:09(#ldtcasq) Conversation view
- 2021-10-14 @ 09:46(#zrxztvq) Sounds good to me
- 2021-10-14 @ 09:41(#3tlepcq) also im getting this text with seem out of place:

- 2021-10-14 @ 09:39(#3tlepcq) So some way of a UI elements across pod that will routhe the action back to your preferred pod?
- 2021-10-13 @ 15:28(#5ossspa) @prologic nice, a lot of good ideas/inspiration
- 2021-10-13 @ 10:16(#5ossspa) @prologic to me that would make the logo too busy and hard to read. we could use the yarn-ball as the dot.
How did you make these logos?
- 2021-10-13 @ 10:10(#4on6u2a) @prologic nope, i didn't know what file from https://files.mills.io/ui/ to install
- 2021-10-13 @ 09:14(#5ossspa) I like that the last one is not all caps, but prefer the font in 3th and yes the gradient is nice too
- 2021-10-13 @ 09:10(#w3hvheq) Is it the the apps store now?
- 2021-10-13 @ 06:07(#5ossspa) @eldersnake @prologic I'm also most on nr. 3
- 2021-10-11 @ 11:27(#fnav4ma) Like what? I just change the BG color to not be 100% white from what I have shown before
- 2021-10-11 @ 10:54(#fnav4ma) @prologic not today, but i put the code in the template and it worked fine (test.darch.dk):

- 2021-10-11 @ 10:08(#fnav4ma) @prologic Hmm not sure this is what is needed:

- 2021-10-11 @ 09:57(#32ioxha) @prologic I would like to make some graphic for the play-store, but this week I'm on vacation, so if anyone wanna do it please don't hesitate
- 2021-10-11 @ 09:56(#fnav4ma) Is there a
{{ $pod-name }}
and {{ $pod-desciption }}
that can be used in the logo-code-field? - 2021-10-10 @ 19:07@prologic is there a way to reuse the pod name and description in the Logo?

- 2021-10-10 @ 18:33(#ky26ivq) I have also been thinking to rename "Discover" in the UI to "Explore"
- 2021-10-10 @ 18:31(#ky26ivq) I like it as a way to discover users on other pods, but will it be toggleable? in this way you can use a specific pod for a specific topic and new people can get a idea of this is the right pod for them
- 2021-10-08 @ 19:32@prologic (#zydntga) I cloud look into making some graphics
- 2021-10-08 @ 19:31(#e7igxvq) @fastidious yes here is the styling I have been working on: https://git.mills.io/yarnsocial/yarn/src/branch/new_ui
Look in static/csd/ and template/
- 2021-10-08 @ 12:59(#wvyvaka) @prologic @eldersnake from where can i grab the new APK?
- 2021-10-08 @ 06:36(#6qycaaa) Manifests are also used by a lot of art goupes and movement through history and doubt that they are serial killers. To me "our story" sounds too commercial
- 2021-10-06 @ 15:36(#dmvj33a) Something that listens after specific #tags and then in some way relay/repost post to its own feed
- 2021-10-06 @ 11:30How would one make bot for @yarns that would pick up #tags an repost them?
- 2021-10-06 @ 11:22(#sswvctq) @prologic yes i guess nicks are optional, someone might also put
name:
or user:
instead - 2021-10-06 @ 11:06(#sswvctq) @prologic it it not just a twtxt.txt without a
# nick:
-line? - 2021-10-06 @ 10:49(#s336kiq)
growth != sustainability
- 2021-10-06 @ 06:19(#4rsvbbq) @prologic @fastidious how do one access the admin settings of a pod?
- 2021-10-05 @ 19:41(#kjjdgua) With so many new pods podding up right now it would make sense to have a standard for identity consisting of a (optional?) nick and the URL to the actual feed. it is already visual present on yarn-pod as
(@)nick@url
@lyse and @movq and others not using yarn, how it is the nick+url presented in your UI? - 2021-10-04 @ 23:10(#rey7wqq) @prologic can you also fix so you can follow more feeds with the same nick but on diffrent servers?
I just unfollowed
adi@twtxt.net
when I started to follow adi@f.adi.onl
w/o any kind of warning that it will happen. - 2021-10-04 @ 23:04(#rey7wqq) @adi why
f.
? for feed? - 2021-10-04 @ 13:49(#3zlzmga) great. Will i make sense to change the default search to be AND-based instead of OR-based? and only if none or very few results will it expand to OR-based search?
- 2021-10-04 @ 12:33@prologic can we do Field Scoping in #yarnsearch yet? Like
by:darch
or mention:prologic
? - 2021-10-04 @ 12:27(#e7igxvq) @laz very nice colors. Seem to getting close to @prologic 's wish of a purple theme ;)
- 2021-10-02 @ 17:24@movq (#32eqnlq) Hmm it might be my test server running on my localhost where my username is "SP"
- 2021-10-02 @ 16:16(#74kwziq) Ah cool, so that's why the openmoji is not there😉
- 2021-10-02 @ 14:49@adi (#74kwziq) so did you do a reconstruction of my new UI design or did you add this on top?
- 2021-10-02 @ 14:09(#74kwziq) @adi did you use and css template or is this all from scratch?
- 2021-10-02 @ 14:02(#74kwziq) @adi dependt on you screen size. I would go for 800px
- 2021-10-02 @ 08:23(#d6xg3ra) I been using saved.io for years, where you just add
saved.io/
in front of the link you want to save. And I got a tabs.txt file that I might never look through... - 2021-09-30 @ 20:37@adi (#je7yjra) naa, but i borrowed it from vanilla.css and made the links purple
- 2021-09-30 @ 20:33@adi (#je7yjra) https://uglyduck.ca/lazy-dev-dark-mode/ by the same guy who made vanilla.css
- 2021-09-30 @ 20:25@adi (#je7yjra) yup ;)
.pod-logo {
filter: hue-rotate(215deg);
}
/* Dark mode support */
@media (prefers-color-scheme: dark) {
.pod-logo {
filter: invert(1) hue-rotate(60deg);
}
}
- 2021-09-30 @ 20:22(#je7yjra) And now with link colors from the yarn-balls. TBH i think i becomes too purple, but then again the colors a kinda picked at random by inverting and rotating the hue

- 2021-09-30 @ 20:14(#je7yjra) @prologic thanks. did you make any changes to the code after adding it to the new_ui-branch?
- 2021-09-30 @ 20:08Purple Yarn-logo by just using CSS filter on the OpenMoji:

- 2021-09-30 @ 18:26@adi (#uj5nf2q) have you made any PR of it yet?
Well i just had a look at your default.css also, because there was no styling of forms in vanilla.css, so maybe we should just build or own style from scratch anyhow.
- 2021-09-30 @ 17:55@adi how far did you get with converting my design from water.css to vanilla.css?
- 2021-09-29 @ 10:16(#i7yd5ga) @prologic @adi @laz Well I "fixed" it in
new_UI
by just not using pico.css and implementing an new .grid
section in: https://git.mills.io/yarnsocial/yarn/src/branch/new_ui/internal/static/css/99-yarn.css href="?tag=L114" class="tag">#L114

- 2021-09-29 @ 09:47@adi @laz @prologic (#i7yd5ga) This seem to be the issue: https://git.mills.io/yarnsocial/yarn/src/branch/master/internal/static/css/01-pico.css href="?tag=L240" class="tag">#L240
Turning off this section in firefox inspector fixes it.
- 2021-09-29 @ 07:42@adi @prologic @laz (#i7yd5ga) if you open up /feeds on mobil it looks okay, so I guess it something very simple that went wrong on the template or CSS like a missing end tag

- 2021-09-28 @ 20:59@adi (#5spns2q) ah you wrote "porting", not "posting" - my bad
- 2021-09-28 @ 20:54@adi (#5spns2q) how do you post from my design to this pod?
- 2021-09-28 @ 20:46@adi (#5spns2q) how do you post from it to here?
- 2021-09-28 @ 20:43@adi (#5spns2q) I would also speak for that we iron out some more quirks before making the new design the part of main.
But @prologic is only suggesting to merging it with a new branch called
new_ui
so no harm will be done😉 - 2021-09-28 @ 20:26(#5spns2q) @adi not sure what is a good idea? Merging the fork or something else?
- 2021-09-28 @ 16:27(#i4gd3bq) how does people like this for a logo: https://www.onlinewebfonts.com/icon/564110
And yes we can make it purple 😉
- 2021-09-28 @ 14:04(#4duzzfq) @adi looks good. I have also tried to change the html, mainly the topnav, to work nicely with any, or even no CSS styling.
- 2021-09-28 @ 12:08@adi (#brozarq) care to share some screenshots?
- 2021-09-28 @ 12:05(#5spns2q) I made two commits last night - one darkmode and one light - which one are you working from?
This is the latest: https://git.mills.io/sorenpeter/yarn-UI/commit/af830035fffc10c596c53851cedb17acb2e04b86
- 2021-09-28 @ 12:01(#brozarq) @adi how is Sakura working out for you?
I tried it, but it did not look very nice imo.
- 2021-09-28 @ 11:59(#5spns2q) @prologic I agree to selfhost all assets. But right now I'm still trying out a bunch of stuff so that is for later
- 2021-09-28 @ 11:44(#5spns2q) @prologic it is opensouce so yes. What do you want to change?
- 2021-09-28 @ 11:43(#brozarq) @prologic yes purple is not a problem. But I just like the orange better, especially on the dark mode. Look in yarn.css:
.pod-logo {filter: hue-rotate(100deg)}
and change the number till it is purple 😉
I can also try to make a custom yarn logo in gimp - 2021-09-28 @ 11:36(#5spns2q) Yes still stuff to do. I put it out there for the rest of you to try it out and because you asking for it. All ideas, feedback, likes/dislikes etc are more than welcome😊
- 2021-09-28 @ 11:32(#brozarq) Water.css have a nice darkmode that goes will with a orange yarn logo (apple's emoji and openmoji) That is one of the reasons I pick it for the new UI design. And that @prologic allready uses it on yarn.social 😀
- 2021-09-27 @ 16:10(#bia3d2q) @adi @prologic up to the two of you:) i'm gonna stop hacking on it now
- 2021-09-27 @ 16:03(#bia3d2q) @prologic @adi Sounds great, i just made a new push to https://git.mills.io/sorenpeter/yarn-UI/commit/fd75dd4c2937fe6655459aacf32ec289edd88a17
- 2021-09-27 @ 15:31(#bia3d2q) @darch @adi Oh and the "in reply to" is also just a random mockup. Basically everything tagged with TODO or dev-note.
- 2021-09-27 @ 15:27@adi (#bia3d2q) the bookmark link in the topnav and all the mess i left in the code and probally a bunch more.
- 2021-09-27 @ 15:17(#drh3csq) @adi not really. there is still some css-var to be cleaned up in twtxt.css I beleave.
- 2021-09-27 @ 15:08(#bia3d2q) @adi what is the fix to waht???
- 2021-09-27 @ 12:20(#ptsypaq) @adi try to (re)move the h1 in https://git.mills.io/sorenpeter/yarn-UI/src/branch/master/internal/templates/timeline.html
- 2021-09-27 @ 12:18@adi (#fpcgiea) Yes they are. I will remove them in the next commit. still not at home in the git-verse
- 2021-09-26 @ 23:22@adi @prologic (#2j2dlya) sure thing. But I guess I need to keep my fork up to date with the original repo
- 2021-09-26 @ 23:12(#2j2dlya) @adi Can @prologic move it to another branch or do I need to make a new PR?
- 2021-09-26 @ 23:06(#2j2dlya) @fastidious thanks for catching the typo😊
- 2021-09-26 @ 23:04(#2j2dlya) @prologic maybe I should have made the PR to the uixi_redesign branch?!
- 2021-09-26 @ 20:48Dev-Day 4: with new Yarn-logo from OpenMoji and a commit/PR at: https://git.mills.io/yarnsocial/yarn/pulls/437
Big thanks to @adi for helping me out with howto use git via irc:#yarn.social

- 2021-09-26 @ 20:36(#ob7vdia) @jlj @prologic yes and the rest of the emoji are good looking too
- 2021-09-26 @ 18:36(#pdt4sla) @adi Right now they are only running on localhost
- 2021-09-26 @ 18:34(#pdt4sla) Yeah I'm gonna make a pr soon. Maybe tonight.
- 2021-09-26 @ 11:22(#ob7vdia) @prologic fair😉 Try openmoji https://openmoji.org/library/ href="?tag=search" class="tag">#search=Yarn I have considered using these emojis in the new UI design or maybe just make a spin on the yarn ball and change its colors
- 2021-09-26 @ 11:13@prologic (#33ajpbq) Looks good, but seem like it uses the 'wrong' yarn emoji. I believe the cat is for the yarn js package manager

- 2021-09-25 @ 07:18(#rcmnfgq) By aren't all posts indexed by http://search.twtxt.net ?
- 2021-09-24 @ 17:38(#mctwttq) @prologic why would you need JavaScript for this to work?
- 2021-09-24 @ 17:22(#45yvgxq) @prologic sure. Now I got the setup wirking, I will work my way through all the pages while I'm at it. I might need to help for making a git commit and pr since I have only used GitHub web UI so far.
- 2021-09-24 @ 15:10(#45yvgxq) Wuhoo😀 thx! This feature should be described in a FAQ, so user know the can reach out to the pod admin if they experience images not being shown.
- 2021-09-24 @ 15:04(#45yvgxq) @prologic I copied the URL from my other feed http://darch.dk/twtxt.txt here on this pod
- 2021-09-24 @ 14:54@jlj @prologic (#45yvgxq) so you will have to ask the pod admin to whitelist the feeds you follow on external servers?
(Will you add this one too https://twtxt.net/twt/edmcsma ;)
- 2021-09-24 @ 14:46(#45yvgxq) @jlj @prologic does this mean that media can now be loaded from other pods/servers?
- 2021-09-24 @ 14:43(#25d6gla) @prologic @movq @adi yes yarn is "just" a client+server.
Maybe call it txtverse
- 2021-09-24 @ 13:39(#rc7tt5a) @jlj @prologic yes my idea that is show the time since lastes post in each feed (timeline and mention). The idea is that you do not need to check/click on each feed if you know you read all you mention if it say 2h and you checked just 1h ago. And in this way I imagine this will be less additive than how it work now. And we also does not need to log if a user read/viewed a post or not like in red-badge notifications. I hope this makes sense otherwise I would be up for video call Sunday after 16 CEST
- 2021-09-24 @ 12:21(#rc7tt5a) Thanks @eldersnake and @jlj - and here are an idea for "notification" under timeline and mentions

- 2021-09-24 @ 11:24(#rc7tt5a) @prologic Thank you 🙏 and here is water.css in darch-mode ;)

- 2021-09-24 @ 10:34Day 3 of UI-dev'ing - the yellow parts are mockup-code:

- 2021-09-24 @ 07:28(#budayha) would I make sense to move stuff from dev.twtxt.net to dev.yarn.social?
- 2021-09-23 @ 14:02(#ojybh3a) @prologic
3 .
Bookmarks
could maybe be generated using the same feature instead of just being a list of twt-hashes:

- 2021-09-23 @ 14:00(#ojybh3a) @prologic Yes something like that :)
1.
InReplyTo
– A short string of what current post was “in reply” to?: Something that will output what you see here: http://darch.dk/yarn-hack/Mockup_to_Code/ and maybe strip out mentions. I think we had a discussion with more option on github where i made some other variation on the mockup. It should truncate the text so it will not be too long.
2. ForkedFrom
– A short string of what a conversation was “forked from”? I'm not sure how this should look just yet, but it could be maybe use the same way of getting the info - 2021-09-23 @ 06:58(#ojybh3a) chould the fork feature include both the old and new hash so that it would be viewed in the original conversation as well?
EDIT: using the fork button does not automatically metion the person who's post you are replying to... @prologic (Bug or feature;)
- 2021-09-22 @ 21:11(#m6fesrq) @jlj #anth">@anth okay this explains finger quite well: https://wiki.tilde.institute/w/finger
- 2021-09-22 @ 20:13@adi (#6k3xloa) you mean to have Fork between Reply and Conversation?!
- 2021-09-22 @ 20:06(#6k3xloa) @adi how do you like this instead?

- 2021-09-22 @ 19:51(#6k3xloa) @adi I would actually do the opposite:
And I won't be going into nitpicking the colors just yet ;) - 2021-09-22 @ 19:34(#6k3xloa) Look @adi ! No borders and a textarea

- 2021-09-22 @ 19:29(#6k3xloa) @darch @adi Yes it water.css with some of my own addition and stuff from the current twtxt.css
- 2021-09-22 @ 19:28(#6k3xloa) @adi Since this is viewing a conversation it is all the way down;)
- 2021-09-22 @ 19:27(#m6fesrq) #anth">@anth @jlj How exactly does one use finger? I have tried to read about it, but never found any good howto...
- 2021-09-22 @ 19:12Day 2 of updating the UI:

- 2021-09-22 @ 06:39(#lb2762q) @prologic I think the Discover tab should be combined with /feeds and feeds.twtxt.net since both are giving the user options for discovering new feeds to follow
- 2021-09-21 @ 23:37(#gk4ss7a) @lyse thanks and yes todays goals was to get the hang of how it works, so still plenty of stuff to adjust
- 2021-09-21 @ 23:35(#gk4ss7a) @prologic I have no tried to use the custom css in miniflux yet, so don't know...
- 2021-09-21 @ 23:19@prologic @adi (#gk4ss7a) I'm not done at all yet, so still a lot to change. But yes at some point that is my dream to have such an option. Maybe similar to how miniflux does custom css.
- 2021-09-21 @ 23:09(#gk4ss7a) @prologic @adi does what work? The screenshot is from a yarnd running on localhost where I changed the html template and css
- 2021-09-21 @ 21:36(#kdyqg3q) No running a pod just yet. Only my 2nd feed at http://darch.dk/twtxt using #picoblog and #phpub2twtxt
- 2021-09-21 @ 21:08@adi (#gk4ss7a) also an option. I looked at several classless CSS styles and my idea is that the users and/or pod admin can easily use whatever stylesheet they want MySpace-style😉
- 2021-09-21 @ 20:26Hacking on the yarnUI - based on water.css

- 2021-09-20 @ 17:26@prologic (#5gb3dqq) yes and that where I got the inspiration from😉 I want to add it the topnav (timeline, mentions, etc) so you can see if need to click on it or not since you last checked
- 2021-09-20 @ 14:46(#5gb3dqq) @lazarus I have this idea to add time ago for each timeline/feed as a way for making none-intrusive notifications. So the server will not store info about if you read a post or not, just showing how long ago the latest post was made. I made mockup back in the spring showcase this: http://darch.dk/yarn-hack/Mockup_to_Code/
- 2021-09-20 @ 06:50(#epp7t2a) @jlj cool. I encountered the concept of "free hearing/freedom to listen" from shuttlebutt. I think we got a link to it in the hackmd drafts
- 2021-09-19 @ 19:30(#xyc4phq) Could you use any other email client with this setup? Like Thunderbird or some webclient?
- 2021-09-16 @ 09:39(#5i3df5a) @prologic How it is going to implement a view of the message that a replay is replying to?
- 2021-09-15 @ 09:19(#ahbigzq) Hurra!
- 2021-09-14 @ 23:13(#lleh7ya) Use CSS maxwith
- 2021-09-14 @ 23:12(#fupbpzq) @adi Twitter
- 2021-09-14 @ 15:16Damn threading and replays on that 🐦 site is a mess. I had my first conversation on there today and I really missed twtxt/yarn conversation view!
- 2021-09-12 @ 20:09(#uv44muq) @prologic Really cool to finally see a search option for twtxt/yarn. I imaged it to be build into a pod and not a stand-alone search engine. What are the sorting logic for the results?
- 2021-09-12 @ 20:06(#m4gy4iq) @movq @prologic what happen to usenet? guees i'm too young for getting the reference...
- 2021-09-12 @ 11:45(#zfb6qfq) Nice:)
- 2021-09-08 @ 06:48(#adgnxzq) https://bengrosser.com/projects/textbook/ <-- this one might be kinda useful though
- 2021-09-08 @ 06:40(#adgnxzq) @mckinley @brasshopper i dont think is is meant to last long. Minus is an art project, do it not made to be used but to make you think.
- 2021-09-06 @ 18:20(#ta22auq) @jlj Haha sorry to lure you into 🐦 watching again. Was not intended. And thank you for setting up miniflux and rsshub on nftd.uk - I think I can even cut down on fomobook and instagabage with those tools😉
- 2021-09-06 @ 13:37(#ens66ka) Someone made a new version of that computer base on a raspberry pi: https://twtxt.net/twt/eyw7wxa >> https://twitter.com/patriciogv/status/1434600689360162820
- 2021-09-05 @ 12:04(#gm5neia) Sounds great. Will you looking to making a "in reply to... " feature as well like in this mockup: http://darch.dk/yarn-hack/Mockup_to_Code/
- 2021-09-03 @ 15:17(#x3gocza) Great idea, will try to join next week, but for us in Europe it is in the middle of normal office-hours
- 2021-08-24 @ 20:58(#h2iljvq) @prologic made an issue now: https://git.mills.io/yarnsocial/rss2twtxt/issues/13
- 2021-08-24 @ 20:55(#h2iljvq) @adi an API for pulling in twitter avatar? why not just use the URL since you already got the handle?
- 2021-08-24 @ 20:44(#h2iljvq) @prologic what bug? I was only asking to have the img-links shown as images instead of just icons.
- 2021-08-24 @ 15:40(#h2iljvq) @prologic Also an option to allow render of images on remote hosts like in this post: https://twtxt.net/twt/edmcsma
- 2021-08-24 @ 15:38(#h2iljvq) @prologic cool. Is there anyway to pull in the avatar image from twitter? - Like it just there for the taking:
- 2021-08-24 @ 15:18@prologic (#h2iljvq) https://feeds.twtxt.net/twitter-gtdguy/twtxt.txt is there now :) It would be nice if yarn/twtxt.net could render older post and you are not forced to read the raw twtxt.txt file if you are a bit late to the party;)
- 2021-08-24 @ 15:06(#h2iljvq) @prologic i added it as
twitter://twitter.com/gtdguy
- should it just be twitter://gtdguy
? And yes it might be because there is no recent posts, but then i would be nice if it just pulled the latest 5 posts or so.
I wanna try if i can use twtxt as RSS/atom reader along with twitter frontend. And I also got some ideas for simplifying the "Add feed"-workflow for the normal users. - 2021-08-24 @ 09:47@prologic I just created
twitter://twitter.com/gtdguy
on feeds.twtxt.net but i can't figure out how to start following this feed. When i got to https://twtxt.net/feeds all i see is this:
and on https://feeds.twtxt.net/feeds it does not show up - 2021-08-24 @ 09:20(#qcq7rrq) @prologic You are welcome :)
- 2021-08-23 @ 15:06(#qcq7rrq) @prologic I would like to see some basic features rolled out before inventing new stuff. Like getting a search engine up and running, so we can build filtering features for improving the UI and UX.
Also the flow/speed of conversation (the social act, not the yarn-feature) on twtxt vs. IRC is radically different. IRC is ephemeral chatting and twtxt is microbloging at its cores.
- 2021-08-20 @ 21:07(#na6mqjq) @prologic i like the idea about plugins for all the extra features beside basic twtxt'ing/yarn'ing :)
@adi I take that as a compliment;) is there a live link to you minimalist yarn server?
- 2021-08-19 @ 10:46(#na6mqjq) @adi @prologic I like how clean and compact it is:) It is a bit confusing to see where the Replay/Conversations/tag line belongs - is it to the post above or below. so maybe move the
line below the post instead of just under the content of the post. There are 100 other ways to make it look nice, that we can explore, like this one: http://darch.dk/yarn-hack/Mockup_to_Code/
- 2021-08-03 @ 11:42(#nc6duqq) @prologic @jlj I've been opposing adding DM/chat to yarn, because there already are sooo many chat services out there, so no need to reinvent the wheel. Also having to stay on top of yet another inbox is something i would like to avoid. Though if we can come up with some way of relaying/forwarding the DMs to whatever service you prefer, like just sending a email to the users existing account seem like a good option or to build in support for delta.chat that just uses email for chat.
- 2021-08-02 @ 09:40(#xdi6txa) I had similar ideas for re-labeling stuff in the new UI. But TBH I don't know when I will be able to get around to work on it..
- 2021-07-08 @ 15:57@sorenpeter @prologic (#moogcia) how this fetch log stored and updated?
- 2021-07-08 @ 12:51(#moogcia) @prologic yes, I'm aware that a relationship can be established when A (@darch) fetches the feed from B (@sorenpeter). Bu there is nothing anywhere online that can tell you that B follows or fetches A. I don't have a client as such for @sorenpeter except my interface for posting to http://darch.dk/twtxt.txt and a local instance of the original twtxt client on my macbook, that i have not run for over 6 months.
- 2021-07-08 @ 10:38(#moogcia) @prologic @sorenpeter still does not make any sense to me...
- 2021-07-08 @ 09:42(#moogcia) @prologic how does twtxt.net "knows" that @sorenpeter follows @darch (me) ?
There is no list of followings in http://darch.dk/twtxt.txt, but it still says this:

- 2021-07-08 @ 08:43@sorenpeter @prologic (#moogcia) thanks:)
- 2021-06-30 @ 22:27@movq @lyse (#iobv7la) that is some serious minimalist llifhacking going on here. hmm now we will have night trains in Denmark again this might be something to try out
- 2021-06-28 @ 08:47@prologic (#7bc3n6a) non worries. hope you are well after the surgery:)
- 2021-06-27 @ 12:38@prologic did you get my email earlier this week about GitHub for UI/UX?
- 2021-06-27 @ 12:38@prologic (#dzmkf4a) maybe. is it something for twtxt/yarn, that can be used for hosting people's twtxt.txt? I had a look at cabal.chat yesterday that seem to have something like this going for it, but it was still very buggy.
- 2021-06-26 @ 21:34@sorenpeter (#knln7ba) how does the use of tabs in this message work in other clients?
I want to use some kind of code for replacing with
or
in my render at http://darch.dk/twtxt/ using #picoblog and darch.dk/twtxt/gallery.php - so far i tried >>
, //
and tabs
- 2021-06-25 @ 13:58@johanbove (#v6ncuaq) nice, so it just takes the twtxt.txt and renders it as html/CSS via JS?
- 2021-06-16 @ 18:54@lyse (#nj3rtxa) Viele danke
- 2021-06-16 @ 12:40@prologic (#nxxe6ka) it could also be a feature of yarn. both on the timeline and user page. but I would still like a super lightweight script to integrate into almost any website.
- 2021-06-16 @ 12:35@prologic (#nxxe6ka) thanks😊
- 2021-06-16 @ 08:22(#nj3rtxa) Yup... I should be public now
- 2021-06-16 @ 08:20Twtxt gallery features
- 2021-06-15 @ 20:04(#nj3rtxa) @prologic #anth">@anth @lyse Here are my explanation: https://twtxt.net/blog/darch/2021/06/15/twtxt-gallery-features I hope it makes sense.
Also there seem to be an issue with the date

- 2021-06-14 @ 09:37(#nj3rtxa) Will try to explain at a later time. but unix time might be a solution.
- 2021-06-13 @ 22:37#anth">@anth (#nj3rtxa) I would like to prefix uploaded media files via my twtxt webclient with the datetime so the can easly be viewed in a chronological gallery and linking back the original yet with just a simple grep
- 2021-06-13 @ 22:34#anth">@anth (#nj3rtxa) just tried on my main disk in my macbook. did not work. I'm more concerned with not confusing the end user and securing cross platform complability that what might be allowed in some OSs.
- 2021-06-13 @ 01:35#anth">@anth (#nj3rtxa) macos and windows does not seem to like it
- 2021-06-12 @ 11:49@sorenpeter (#xz5owka) @prologic what the the secrecy code you use for like breaks in posts?
- 2021-06-12 @ 10:49@prologic @sorenpeter @movq (#nj3rtxa) yeah i know that there are standard for a reason. But you can't have
:
in filenames and I'm building an instagram-ish view for twtxt when i want an easy way to link back to the original post. - 2021-06-11 @ 09:42(#jro3wba) @jlj @prologic (#jro3wba) I haven't been working on twtxt/yarn stuff for the last couple of months. Been busy with organising live gigs and learning to code GLSL shaders. But I think I can get back to it next week. I had an idea for a white paper (I think that is what you call it) on the potentials for how twtxt/yarn can replace the silo social medias. It could go along with the manifesto.

- 2021-05-04 @ 12:48@maya @jlj (#mggxzlq) I don't think maya hears any of us...
- 2021-04-29 @ 00:10(#5kpl77q) @hecanjog I got a timer on my modem so it is turns off at 9 in the evening and back on in the morning. It works some day to get earlier to bed, but not tonight...
- 2021-04-27 @ 16:32(#q5wdqsa) it should have been "I'm sure" and not "unsure"...
- 2021-04-27 @ 16:30(#q5wdqsa) https://groups.io/ might be an contemporary alterative. I have not really tried it out myself, but have considered trying to migrate some of the few Facebook groups I'm still a member of over here
- 2021-04-27 @ 16:22@maya (#q5wdqsa) as @jlj said is very fragmented. maybe write some short blog posts about you thought on zine typesetting and the other cool stuff you mentioned. Facebook groups sadly almost killed of webforum, but unsure they are still out there.
- 2021-04-27 @ 09:18(#q5wdqsa) @darch @prologic @maya Ah i think i start to get it. but what is it facebook did to solve this issue?
- 2021-04-26 @ 22:31(#q5wdqsa) what is it Facebook got worked out? I seem to be missing the First post of thes conversation...
- 2021-04-23 @ 21:18(#bmkmjja) I liked the first 15 sec... and then I liked the rest even more;)
- 2021-04-19 @ 19:56(#r5m7hna) @readfog yes, @prologic made a UIUX branch, but it seem to have disappeared from the OP...
EDIT: looking at https://twtxt.net/user/prologic/twtxt.txt it seem that the message was cut off after the "🤗" maybe due to some linebreaks... #bug
- 2021-04-19 @ 19:51(#r5m7hna) Ha, doing waht the error message from

) did the trick: Now it picked up my changes in the templates:) Thanks everyone, you are great:) - 2021-04-19 @ 19:42(#r5m7hna) my main issue it this https://twtxt.net/twt/uu5ew5a so maybe there is a way to start over from scracht because i have *go* idea what I have been messing around with...
- 2021-04-19 @ 19:39(#r5m7hna) @readfog thank you, but i still get an error:

- 2021-04-19 @ 19:25(#r5m7hna) @readfog
-bash: task: command not found
- 2021-04-19 @ 19:24(#r5m7hna) @jlj still gets the error after

- 2021-04-19 @ 16:48@darch (#r5m7hna) can't do neither

- 2021-04-19 @ 16:19(#r5m7hna) So when i run twtd w/o debug mode is asks for a settings.yaml, but I can't seem to find it anywhere in the github repo...

- 2021-04-17 @ 20:58@jlj (#ezr5zyq) really great read. is this the manifesto dressed like a casual blog post😉
- 2021-04-16 @ 06:38@prologic (#r5m7hna) yes otherwise twtd won't start on my machine
- 2021-04-15 @ 22:07@prologic (#r5m7hna) when I edit the html template files nothing changes. changing the CSS files works okay... I tried to restart twtd and to re-compile it but still no luck. Can you point me to some doc about how this Go thing works? Not the whole zibang, just the part I need to know for the UI-stuff😊
- 2021-04-12 @ 17:07(#r5m7hna) @prologic Great, then let's see if I can figure out how to work with git
BTW how is the search engine coming along?
- 2021-04-07 @ 15:03@darch @prologic @xxiivv (#zNzFlMA) Aslo why is the "Conversation"-link missing here?
EDIT: I think it is because @hxii is generating AND including his own hashed in the messaged even before posting, so there is no original #zNzFlMA - https://0xff.nu/blog.txt
- 2021-04-07 @ 14:59@prologic @hxii (#zNzFlMA) I'm also following this feed and I have been staring at it for a week or two now. I kinda like what @xxiivv did here as a way to tell about upcoming events. But we would need to build some UI and logic to hide or separate out future-posts from the daily flow.
- 2021-03-18 @ 09:36(#yjrdy6a) @prologic Where did you get the blue logo from? And where did you find the purple one you posted in github a wile back http://darch.dk/yarn-hack/yarn-logo.png ? And might the be under Creative Commons or similar so we can use it in the final design?
- 2021-03-18 @ 07:50@prologic (#yjrdy6a) I think it is sorenpeter https://github.com/sorenpeter
- 2021-03-16 @ 07:31@jlj @prologic (#rj7u5na) great see you guys Saturday 20 UTC 😃
- 2021-03-15 @ 20:07(#rj7u5na) @jlj sound like at 20 UTC would be the best option, if @prologic is okay with waking up early. But I'm also fine with around midday UTC on Saturday.
- 2021-03-15 @ 12:00(#rj7u5na) @jlj Also will you fill in the doodle for next weekend: https://doodle.com/poll/8ra8dkvtr98gvtwm
- 2021-03-15 @ 11:55@jlj (#rj7u5na) Sure here you go: Main blog: https://herman.bearblog.dev/ and the article about why products should be “slick”, not just viable https://herman.bearblog.dev/mvp-vs-slc/ and the article with this awesome illustration https://blog.asmartbear.com/slc.html

- 2021-03-14 @ 22:31(#52zs6bq) here is another doodle for next weekend: https://doodle.com/poll/8ra8dkvtr98gvtwm
- 2021-03-14 @ 09:15@prologic (#52zs6bq) sure thing☺️ Will you suggest us a time this week or next one then
- 2021-03-14 @ 00:11(#jatw6pq) Also if anyone feels like messing around with HTML and CSS, then you can view source on this: http://darch.dk/yarn-hack/Mockup_to_Code
- 2021-03-13 @ 23:48(#wkzwqwq) @prologic but not in practice?
- 2021-03-13 @ 23:47@prologic (#jatw6pq) no worries:) I first confirmed it today, when it was already night downunder. We did put in some notes in the hackmd. And we agreed to try to make a new doodle for next week and maybe this time settle on a time that is better for you.
- 2021-03-13 @ 23:43@prologic Can I use the Messaging Tokens (SMTP Token and POP3 Token) to connect my twtxt.net accout to a mail client like delta.chat and use that for private messages? EDIT: what would the server-names be?
- 2021-03-13 @ 19:16(#jatw6pq) If anyone else wants to join the we are meeting on https://meet.nfld.uk/yarn at 20 UTC https://time.is/2000_13_Mar_2021_in_London
- 2021-03-13 @ 13:43@jlj (#jatw6pq) cool. I tied to login but no luck. For the agenda i made a new doc in hackmd about what features we want to focus on. and also any input on the UI design is much appreciated ☺️
- 2021-03-13 @ 12:35@prologic (#jatw6pq) and others are we still have a talk on @jlj 's jitsi at 20 UTC tonight?
- 2021-03-12 @ 21:08@mckinley (#jatw6pq) that's okay:)
- 2021-03-12 @ 20:51(#jatw6pq) @mckinley Thanks:) did you have a go a turning the mockups into code as well, or any other ideas for the design?
- 2021-03-12 @ 20:03(#jatw6pq) Real HTML and CSS coming along slowly
EDIT: twtxt.net seems to mess with the compression... - 2021-03-12 @ 10:15(#ic65iza) @lazarus @prologic Read the whole thing. A lot of good ideas and some we are already doing with twt/yarn.social
- 2021-03-10 @ 18:09(#a4uhsdq) I'm glad that voicemail it not really a thing anymore and a have it turned off from my phone carrier. Most voice messages are just pocket calls or people who did not manage to hand up before the beep. And there is more open and interoperable alternatives to the silo systems such as matrix.org, delta.chat and twtxt/yarn.social. Sadly most people are not willing to pay for these service just yet. The fee for these services could be via your ISP or phone carrier or governments might realize that these are vital part of our infrastructure and provide services funding by tax
- 2021-03-10 @ 07:39(#jatw6pq) Also would you be up for another jitsi talk on Saturday evening? Or is there a better time of the day for @prologic where us Europeans will also be awake?
- 2021-03-10 @ 07:36(#jatw6pq) how about a drop-down sidebar only using CSS, as a way to combining the two layout? no hover, only click of course. https://www.w3schools.com/Css/css_dropdowns.asp
- 2021-03-10 @ 07:11@prologic (#hwkktxa) yeah I know it is possible by altering the hash. and q button would definitely help😉
- 2021-03-09 @ 21:31(#jatw6pq) (this conversation could really need the feature of branches/forks;)
- 2021-03-09 @ 21:26@mckinley @prologic (#jatw6pq) you are very welcome to make the mockups into code. I was also not sure how I should have frased my reply to you. I guess my point was no need for two people doing the same thing, by then again you might be coming up with something amazing 😃
- 2021-03-09 @ 21:22@movq @prologic (#jatw6pq) issue is that I started to edit a text, but the open a new tab because I change my mind and wanted to make a new twt. but the some cookiemoster ate my old twt and replaced it with the new one
- 2021-03-09 @ 21:18@mckinley (#jatw6pq) none taken :)
- 2021-03-09 @ 21:11@prologic (#jatw6pq) Works fine for me and others it seem. I just uploaded it to github. try another browser or pdf reader
- 2021-03-09 @ 20:38(#jatw6pq) @mckinley You are welcome to do that. It would be fun to see how you interpret my "drawings" - but I'm also capable of doing that myself:)
- 2021-03-09 @ 20:19(#jatw6pq) @mckinley Thanks for you feedback. I'm all for
delightfully retro
:) That is what you get from making webdesign in LibreOffice... And we might have a (side)barfight coming up ;) - 2021-03-09 @ 20:13(#jatw6pq) @lyse Doh! Kinda exposing an issue that I was trying to address the the now gone post... Anyhow I recommend people to give this a read https://herman.bearblog.dev/mvp-vs-slc/ on Minimum Viable Product vs Simple, Loveable, and Complete. I think we should focus on fixing stuff that would turn regular users off and putting features that are only half-working on the backburner/someday-maybe-list, ie. private messages.
- 2021-03-09 @ 19:15(#jatw6pq) @lyse Re the permanent sidebar: no it would not be fixed when scrolling. I just tried out two different way of cleaning up the levels of navigation, hiding (1-2 clicks) some that in my experiences would not be needed that often and bumping some up (direct access).
- 2021-03-09 @ 18:46I made some concepts/mockups rethinking the navigation for yarn.social. And trying out a permanent sidebar, but not sure if it is needed... Details in a PDF at github
Feedback here or at github is more than welcome :) - 2021-03-05 @ 23:43(#lr2rccq) @xuu @lyse @prologic @jlj Yeah great to meet you all :) I already made a mockup of how we can move conversation view within the timeline forward: https://github.com/jointwt/twtxt/issues/413
- 2021-03-05 @ 11:38(#ghryeqq) @prologic @jlj @xuu @antonio can provide a bigger screenshot with more context? which is the reply? you or enigma?
- 2021-03-05 @ 10:25(#bakywta) @jlj @lyse @prologic We can also meet a bit later tonight / tomorrow morning if that suit everyone better. So is 20 UTC good for everyone? Re the agenda: yeah bring your ideas and we will have yarn about what to focus of all our dev ideas.
- 2021-03-04 @ 14:51(#msgkguq) SMS is very much still a thing here in Denmark. I just works and no need to install any app or remember passwords etc. I have been thinking to make a setup so I can send an SMS to my twtxt.txt
- 2021-03-04 @ 12:03(#u6qz3uq) Indeed. I was just thinking this morning to base a new color scheme on Ubuntu, because they already do something nice with purple - this is a bit too dark though: https://github.com/guneysus/gohugo-hacker/blob/master/images/ubuntu.png
For Yarn.social i would not use a monospace font.
- 2021-03-04 @ 11:14@prologic hmm can't access my blogpost anymore... https://twtxt.net/blog/darch/2021/02/27/ux-improvement-ideas-for-the-yarn-social-rebranding
- 2021-03-04 @ 08:50(#bakywta) @lyse @xuu @movq @prologic Please give a final vote for Friday or Saturday at https://doodle.com/poll/dgy9u2ssdv2ybzft
And @jlj will make us a jiti link?
- 2021-03-02 @ 23:23I kinda like how twtxt.net looked "back in the days": https://www.moongift.jp/2020/08/twtxt-%E8%87%AA%E5%88%86%E3%81%A7%E7%AB%8B%E3%81%A6%E3%82%8Btwitter%E3%82%AF%E3%83%AD%E3%83%BC%E3%83%B3%EF%BC%88%E3%83%9E%E3%82%A4%E3%82%AF%E3%83%AD%E3%83%96%E3%83%AD%E3%82%B0%EF%BC%89/
- 2021-03-02 @ 21:46(#qmb2v7q) @prologic @movq @adi Duke Nukem I and II was https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duke_Nukem_(video_game) , but duke3d is well... in 3D
- 2021-03-02 @ 18:55(#bakywta) @lyse @jlj @prologic Anyone else who you think would want to participate? It looks like Friday 5th or Saturday 6th at 20:00 CET is a possible time for all, if doodle did at proper job with the timezones.
- 2021-03-01 @ 19:12(#bakywta) @jlj @prologic @lyse @adi @antonio I made a doodle so we can try to find a time that work for all of us https://doodle.com/poll/dgy9u2ssdv2ybzft
- 2021-03-01 @ 16:26@lyse @prologic @jlj (#s43mwpa) ditto https://hackmd.io/@darch
- 2021-03-01 @ 15:23(#2t2pflq) @gr0k really cool site you have made for yourself. The link to your Music feed on https://www.gr0k.net/links.html seem to go to the blog feed instead. Also for a way to keep you /twtxt page up to date you can take a look at https://0xff.nu/picoblog or ask around here on twtxt.net where others have also made similar setups.
- 2021-03-01 @ 08:48@jlj @prologic (#bakywta) also does anyone happen to have a eatherpad server or similarly, so we can easily co-write the roadmap and manifesto?
- 2021-03-01 @ 08:45@jlj @prologic (#bakywta) https://duckduckgo.com/?q=jitsi
- 2021-03-01 @ 08:44@prologic (#tjudzyq) sure thing. but I would prioritize the web.version first so we know what we are aiming for.
- 2021-03-01 @ 08:41@jlj @prologic (#bakywta) jitsi is really awesome alternative to zoom and all the other commercial alternatives
- 2021-03-01 @ 07:35(#bakywta) would it be an idea to set up a video call and go over our roadmap and priorities in a real time conversation?
- 2021-03-01 @ 07:26(#tjudzyq) hey @prologic yes I use the app, but did not analyze it like I did with the web version.
- 2021-02-27 @ 20:45UX improvement ideas for the Yarn.social rebranding
- 2021-02-25 @ 23:04(#jlar35q) @mckinley haha, of course. Thanks!
- 2021-02-25 @ 21:35(#jlar35q) @lyse how do you make your galleries? Do you just write the code by hand? Also what is the magic that makes so simple html turn into a dynamic grid?
- 2021-02-24 @ 15:10(#n6itdza) @prologic But you can still go in and see all the old posts of someone at https://twtxt.net/user/NICK/twtxt.txt even thou they are no longer in the cache. And I know it is a matter of saving resources, but it kinda weird to not being able to search back in time more than X amount of time. In a way this is just adding a "blackbox" algorithm to yarn/twt that is not logical for regular end-users compared to other systems. If you use any other client than twt.social, then you will be able to read the whole timeline in their interface.
- 2021-02-24 @ 11:05(#n6itdza) @darch @jlj @prologic (...) and also the fact than you cannot delete content when it has first been published.
This is also an issue for me with how yarn/twt.social is working atm; than you cannot delete stuff you posted, when it is hosted on a pod, but you can if you selfhost your own twtxt.txt-file. I want to be able to edit or at least delete posts and not just my last post. And this will be a dealbreaker if we are to bring more people to using twtxt via hosted yarn-server.
- 2021-02-24 @ 11:03(#n6itdza) @jlj @prologic Well most of what mentioned is not networks but clients for the the same network (Patchwork, Patchfox, Oasis and in part Feedless and Manyverse). Planetary i think is somewhat separated.
But then again Scuttlebutt is struggling with access the same profile from several devices, since it is peer2peer first, where all users are running a server on their own device and moving this server can break then crypto-threading that is the backbone of the SSB protocol. Feedless is offering a hosted solution at their server, but you can also selfhost on your own devic
- 2021-02-23 @ 21:27@prologic (#n6itdza) their menifesto is definitely worth a read https://medium.com/digital-diplomacy/a-non-addictive-social-network-d0ad3a2204d
- 2021-02-23 @ 21:24@prologic (#n6itdza) it got some really nice colours and a fresh design, but some features are kinda lacking or wierd.
- 2021-02-22 @ 22:27Anyone had a go with https://feedless.social/ ? Just found it via the apple store looking at the GORYON app.
- 2021-02-22 @ 10:33(#lc35faa) @prologic All right, I think I'm starting to understand the benefits of hashes as the best way to show relations between posts/replies :)
- 2021-02-21 @ 11:44(#zafd26q) @prologic Can I ask what these "interesting useful properties" are?
Also the rebranding to yarn.social could be a good time to break compatibility.
Or have the options both for (hash) and
(re: http://twtxt.net/u/darch 2021-02-21T10:44:10Z )
- 2021-02-21 @ 11:37(#lc35faa) hackaday already got the kind of nested replies as i suggested in my mockup yesterday: https://hackaday.com/2021/02/16/basic-cross-platform-software-hacking-then-and-now/
- 2021-02-21 @ 08:54(#zafd26q) ... Since this is gonna be a lot longer than the hash, it could added to the end of the line of each reply post instead of in the beginning for human readbility of the raw txt
- 2021-02-21 @ 08:49(#zafd26q) Can we come up with something that is easier to implement in other clients or can be done by hand than hash? As I read the docs about the original subject is was like email
(re: original post)
right?! So if instead of the hash we do (re: 2021-02-21T08:42:00Z <@nick URL>)
where the datetime is just copied from the .txt with the original post. Then it is also human readable and can be parsed by other clients. - 2021-02-20 @ 19:55(#lc35faa) Also made a mockup of how nested Conversations could look in Yarn.
You can "try" it out at http://darch.dk/yarn-hack/YARN_Conversation_Nested.html
href='https://twtxt.net/media/bqEPnYERr3XuvAQCveEN4M' class='imglink' target='_top'>

- 2021-02-20 @ 19:15(#lc35faa) @xuu the logo is just a png and text in html, so no svg...
And the PNG is not my original work. @prologic found it and shared it here some time ago.

- 2021-02-18 @ 10:33@movq @adi @prologic @eldersnake @lyse (#mpyf3jq) being a librarian you should think I could answer that question, but I got nothing off the top of my head
- 2021-02-18 @ 09:36(#mpyf3jq) @movq @prologic @eldersnake @adi @lyse maybe something on CSS and interaction and GUI design
- 2021-02-18 @ 09:33(#mpyf3jq) @adi @eldersnake @lyse @movq @prologic can't access that site.. (EDIT: removing the port 900 helped).
- 2021-02-18 @ 09:30(#mpyf3jq) @lyse @movq @adi @prologic @eldersnake Books about what? not sure what the topic of this conv is...
- 2021-02-17 @ 18:12(#j25hw5q) is this a reply by default?! (EDIT: yup)
- 2021-02-16 @ 23:12(#j25hw5q) @prologic Haven't seen that issue before/latelty. I'm not sure what you mean by “Social” and “Messages” view, but a sidebar could be an option. If by sketch you mean 396, then I would still go with just a top-nav. Sidebars makes me dizzy sometimes.
- 2021-02-16 @ 22:56(#j25hw5q) @prologic subconsciously i guess i realized it. If I am to redo some of the design then i would go for a more compact CSS design. I also think that we can find some middle ground or toggle option like we got with the light/dark theme.
- 2021-02-16 @ 20:58A shot talk about #indieweb social readers that describes what I envision for twtxt/yarn.social, but with a lot simpler implementation, than what they do over at the IndieWeb https://archive.org/details/iwc-austin-2020-social-readers
An the last slide is also worth keeping in mind for twtxt/yarn.social:

- 2021-02-15 @ 21:13(#qy6mbvq) @thewismit (#qy6mbvq) I like it! neat and with a good pop of colors:)
- 2021-02-15 @ 16:28@eldersnake What are you using to render your twtxt.txt on https://www.andrewjvpowell.com/twts/ ? It is #picoblog by @hxii or just the Atom feed ?
- 2021-02-14 @ 13:30(re: #v5yaeha) @prologic @lyse #anth">@anth One way to make the raw txt easier to read would be to move the (hash) to the end of the line. Another thing would be to add
re:
to it so it would be cleared that code-thing is a reply or is in relations/reaction to something else (re: #v5yaeha)
EDIT: right now the twt.social client does not allow you to move the (#v5yaeha) ... - 2021-02-14 @ 13:15(#tgqyilq) Thanks @jlj , The ideas was more for a logo than for an URL. Keep in mind the depending on your OS etc. it might look very different: https://emojipedia.org/yarn/
I also like the yarn ball @prologic suggested, but I would go with something that have some more volume to it instead of this flat design paradigm. I posted some more ideas at: https://github.com/jointwt/twtxt/issues/385 so please have a look at them too :)
- 2021-02-13 @ 21:38🧶.social
- 2021-02-13 @ 12:02A way to integrate twtxt/yarn/rss/atom into the base of how the web works, could be to create a feature like
mailto:
called follow:
or feed:
so you can just click on any link and your browser will add it to your feed reader of choice like it does with your e-mail client. A start could be a feed-plugin for the main browsers.
Edit: It looks feed:
already kind is/was a thing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feed_URI_scheme
- 2021-02-12 @ 22:29damn this might be unfortunate: https://github.com/jackjamieson2/yarns-microsub-server
- 2021-02-12 @ 22:07(#jvfqdxa) @prologic could
description
or tagline
just be bio
or about
? - 2021-02-12 @ 12:46@sorenpeter @prologic (#vlgqjbq) yes I am. will have a look at it in the weekend:)
- 2021-02-11 @ 19:26(#kanuqhq) @antonio Ditto what @vain just said. for bookmarks i just www.saved.io, where you just add TAG.saved.io/ in front of the url you want to save or i just copy the ULR+title to some textfiles in dropbox.
- 2021-02-09 @ 08:11@eldersnake @prologic (#stl2caa) and with other pages/conv that are already cached is is a problem too
- 2021-02-09 @ 08:09@eldersnake @prologic (#stl2caa) I also have the issue on desktop
- 2021-02-06 @ 18:58(#ndaemda) @prologic I'm up for looking at the the UX and CSS (already got a some ideas) and my sister, who is designer, is up for taking a shot at a logo and the general visual identity.
- 2021-02-06 @ 11:42(#ndaemda) @prologic so when are we gonna make the change to yarn.social ?
- 2021-02-06 @ 11:40(#loawtoa) @prologic @thewismit so if DM is just email, any way to integrate it with delta.chat or use it as a client for the DM?
- 2021-02-05 @ 22:52(#ndaemda) @prologic @sorenpeter I tried to make a demo of the txtverse to a creative coding meetup in berlin (aka online) but my screen sharing was not working, so had to do a live demo and sharing links. Hope that I sparked some peoples interest anyhow and we will get some more people using twtxt.txt|.net|.???
- 2021-02-05 @ 14:23(#fkk2mbq) @gr0k @prologic , Hi @eldersnake , I made a very simple php-tool to post to a twtxt.txt on your own site called #phpub2twtxt (github). And @hxii also made Picoblog, which is a way to show your twtxt.txt on your in a nice way on your own site. He is also working on selfhosted UI to see and reply to your posts on your timelime, but I don't think that it published yet.
You can take a look at my setup of #picoblog at http://darch.dk/twtxt and @hxii 's at https://0xff.nu/microblog
- 2021-02-03 @ 19:13@prologic (#3jkzebq) so what is the image showing or not showing? also I think i broke the hash by editing the original post on my own domain.
- 2021-02-03 @ 19:09(#ssx75ca) @prologic @sorenpeter Totally understandable. Is there an other way to make post with images across pods and selfhosted twtxt.txt ? And how would you go about asking for whitelisting?
- 2021-02-03 @ 07:40@sorenpeter @prologic (#3jkzebq)

- 2021-02-03 @ 07:25@sorenpeter @prologic (#3jkzebq) and here the app just keeps on spinning the load wheel
- 2021-02-03 @ 07:24@sorenpeter @prologic (#f22czxq) but in the android app, this one just shows the html...
- 2021-02-03 @ 07:23@sorenpeter @prologic (#3jkzebq) they both render the same in the browser to me.
- 2021-02-02 @ 18:22(#loawtoa) @prologic @hecanjog So DM's is just e-mails?? Ha, I kinda like that:D
- 2021-01-29 @ 18:22(#bwm7rra) @adi @hxii https://0xff.nu/picoblog and in action at https://0xff.nu/microblog
- 2021-01-29 @ 15:47@thewismit @prologic @adi (#x7e73va) Being able to use twtxt as a way to comment on others blogs is also a dream of mine. It would be a lot lighter than what the indiewebbers are doing. And it could be a blog hosted on your pod or elsewhere. The important thing is to give the user and/or admin options to chose the features the would like to use or not.
- 2021-01-29 @ 14:17(#x7e73va) @jlj @prologic @adi In a way there is no need to remove the blog and DM feature. Just give the pod admins an option to turn it off. That is what I would do the the day I set up my own pod.
- 2021-01-29 @ 14:00(#x7e73va) @prologic @adi Yes, for me it makes more sense to get those features elsewhere. It is not about making the codebase more lean, but about making the core feature stand out. And insisting on the simplicity. Like you said no to polls. If you need polls you make a twt with a link to doodle.com or similar. It would still be good to have a way of knowing how to contact people directly. You can use the tagline for a the contact info you feel comfortable to sharing. Removing DM will also remove the potential issues of harassment and spam, that this channel could be used for.
- 2021-01-29 @ 13:51(#vevdhna) You can change the color of the pin using css. I like the heart, but a star, bookmark or floppy could also work.
- 2021-01-29 @ 10:51(#x7e73va) @prologic @jack - I aggee with @adi here. Also the DM feature seems superfluous. For me the scope of the twtxt-ecosytem is a way to make publish post and have discussions in the open. There are plenty of DM/IM and blog services/system out there, and it should be up to each person to chose which of these they want to use instead of having another inbox to keep an eye on.
- 2021-01-27 @ 18:54Current time in Copenhagen is 18:52 - testing timezone render for #picoblog and #phpub2twtxt
- 2021-01-25 @ 15:53(#vudccta) @thewismit Matrix also looks very promising, but it might be trying to do too many things at once. The same goes for Scuttlebutt (www.ssb.nz), I like the ideas behind but the implementations are too hacky for normal users. Scuttlebutt definitely has it merits in not relaying on central servers and that it can work in areas without internet, just p2p, even in a jungle or at sea.
That why I like the scope of twtxt and twt/yarn.social together with delta.chat.
- 2021-01-25 @ 07:21@thewismit @prologic (#vudccta) I have been really hooked on Delta.chat that uses your normal email account for e2e encrypted IM, so it can be decentslised, i.e. running your own mailserver, just like twtxt:) But convincing people to chance is difficult. Now at least my closest family got onto signal, which is at least a step up from Facebook messenger.
- 2021-01-21 @ 21:35(#p4xpuhq) @vain "God dag" is correct Danish, danke :)
- 2021-01-21 @ 16:29(#qvykv7a) @vain I read somewhere that you could use a space instead of the "T" as still comply with RFC 3339. But I put the "T" back after testing it and found that it did not work with twtxt.net ;)
- 2021-01-21 @ 16:09@twtxt @vain (#p4xpuhq) Guten Tag Peter! Really cool collection you got of your desktops over time.
- 2021-01-21 @ 09:55(#qvykv7a) @prologic @sorenpeter Z is for zero, so it just another way of saying +00:00. i makes thes txtxt.txt more readable in the raw
- 2021-01-21 @ 09:41(#sotzvdq) @prologic @sorenpeter you can see the code at: https://github.com/sorenpeter/phpub2twtxt/
For now it it just post timestamp + text to the txtwt.txt via a form.
I got a local follow list set up withe the original CLI client.
- 2021-01-21 @ 08:56ideas for #branding twt.social with a new name in relation to our talk at https://github.com/jointwt/twtxt/issues/342
href='https://twtxt.net/media/LoNEaKhnvgcto55Eq92Fxn' class='imglink' target='_top'>

- 2021-01-21 @ 08:52@sorenpeter @prologic (#qvykv7a) changed the suffix from +00:00 to Z
- 2021-01-20 @ 00:21@prologic @sorenpeter @lyse (#3txg3ja) Funny I just posted my ideas for an alternative way of implementing conversations to that issue :P But i'm not really a back-end developer so I have no idea if this could work...
- 2021-01-19 @ 23:48@prologic @sorenpeter (#3txg3ja) conversations does not seem to work with external users...
- 2021-01-19 @ 00:33(#s6zxfya) @prologic when i mention/reply to @sorenpeter twtxt.net does not seem render it as a link, like it does for you. that was my question that got lost.
EDIT: well now it does, maybe it was because I as @darch was following @sorenpeter under the nick @sørenpeter before, which i just changed.
- 2021-01-19 @ 00:14(#s6zxfya) @prologic @sorenpeter yes we are ;)
Is there a way to auto add the
@sorenpeter
instead of just @sorenpeter
? (well that did not render as i wanted it to...) - 2021-01-18 @ 23:52@prologic (#7gb6suq) thanks, i fixed it now:D
- 2021-01-18 @ 23:46@prologic (#7gb6suq) but why does https://twtxt.net/user/darch/twtxt.txt render æøå just fine then in the same browser?
- 2021-01-18 @ 23:36(#7gb6suq) @prologic (#qszjsbq) but not sø much in thæ plain twtxt.txt file at darch.dk/twtxt.txt
- 2021-01-18 @ 23:29@prologic (#zzkvsxa) ah that makes sense. so if i delete my latest post, can i can delete the previous one an so on?
- 2021-01-18 @ 23:07(#zzkvsxa) @darch @prologic why can't I edit or delete this post?
- 2021-01-18 @ 21:29@sørenpeter (#2crflaq) Well it looks link it does B)

- 2021-01-18 @ 18:17(#hcbm5ya) @prologic @adi @deadguy Oops, I forgot to share the correct link without the /edit/ part... please ignore that.
I just found Picoblog, that is a php implementation of twtxt :D
And it looks like it got some API for posting to it https://0xff.nu/microblogging href="?tag=posting" class="tag">#posting
- 2021-01-18 @ 13:04(#hcbm5ya) @adi @prologic Thank you, Adi. yeah nothing beast a bash from the past:P
- 2021-01-18 @ 13:02(#hcbm5ya) @prologic @adi Yes i have noticed you sitegen. It looks cool:) But i don't have shell access to my webhosting. And I don't feel like re-redoing my website once again. And there is something old-school about php that I like.
I got the render cleaned up a bit: http://www.darch.dk/edit/notes/ - now i just need a way to feed in my selfhosted twtxt.txt and posting to it. For now I can use this awesome pod ;)
- 2021-01-18 @ 11:01(#hcbm5ya) @prologic , @adi got it right. i have already build my webpage using yellow. What im after is a easy way to render my twtxt.txt in a similar way to what it is done here on twtxt.net plus an easy way to use the online editor in yellow to post updates to my twtxt.txt, mainly justin adding the date and time(zone).
I kinda fixed the render part using the tickler extension for yellow.
But there is still some cleaning up to do as you can see at: http://www.darch.dk/notes/
- 2021-01-17 @ 20:50@sørenpeter (#hzj5gyq) selv hej!
- 2021-01-17 @ 14:32@prologic (#hcbm5ya) Thank you for the xplanation. what tools beside twtxt.net do you know that can precent the content of twtxt.txt in nice ways? like showing images and making links clickable?
- 2021-01-17 @ 14:02@prologic (#hcbm5ya) because then i could add twtxt to my websites CMS (yellow by datenstrom.se).
But I guess it would be fairy simple to code something myself.
- 2021-01-17 @ 13:41@prologic (#hcbm5ya) is there any PHP paser and posting UI for twtxt yet?
- 2021-01-17 @ 13:40@prologic (#hcbm5ya) hi you:)
